Hello everyone!
I just recently returned to UO with a couple of friends on Atlantic and we're having lots of trouble finding a guild that fits our playstyle. Before we stopped playing about a year ago we were part of the PoV under Morgana, but I'm having trouble finding any of them around anymore... What we're looking for is a group of players who take pride in their character but don't enforce strict rules on being "in character" 100% of the time or attempt to influence the creative direction of our characters. At the same time, we're not looking for a leetsauce pwnzasaurus lolz min/maxer noobcakes guild that only lives for raiding champ spawns with their greater dragons named NuMBnUtz and PH34RMY5K1ZZILS... So please, anyone, direct me to a decent, middle-of-the-road, relaxed RP-friendly guild to join. Thank you for your time!

If you have a few friends, you could always make your own guild. Or if you havent already ask around in the RP chat channel. Most the rp / rpish guilds seem to always go a bit inactive in the summer, then come back around when it gets cold and people dont want to go outside anymore.

Welcome to Atlantic,

As the previous poster said, during the summer UO gets quieter...
But do feel free to check out the welcome to Atlantic sticky. there is also a list of guilds there that may offer what you are looking for :)

Anyways,
Good to have you here

Cheers,
Aalia

Letting us know a little more about your play style will also help us give you recommendations. Do you prefer PVP? PVM? RP? A mix of some? or A mix of all?

Sounds like you enjoy RP, but want to be able to relax occasionally, as well. In addition to looking at the Stratics guilds listing, as Aalia mentioned, you should also check out the Atlantic RP Community: http://www.atlanticcommunityboard.com/forum/.

Welcome back Seanen. Sadly Morgana continues on her Quest for the Holy Grail of UO (Classic Shard) and refuses to return no matter how many times I explain to her there is plenty to offer in this era of Sosaria. Simply create your own storyline, your own community and keep it loose and fun. *shrugs* Ah well we each take our own path in UO, its what makes it such a great game.

Anyways, not to burst your bubble Smoot but think you missed the portion of the OP where it said: He does not want a group that will attempt to "enforce strict rules on being "in character" 100% of the time". That sentence to me would describe the rp world of Atlantic perfectly. I have some good friends that are a large part of the rp community which I have said in talks with them, when I hear of how dead it is there, its a shame that as a whole they seem unwilling to tweak things here and there to promote growth.

For instance I look at the guild Sanctus and love the guild name which is the first thing that catches ones eye, as well as how they present and carry themselves. Its an older guild with a group pf veteran members, that provides for some history which is another nice quality. That being said I find them borish and unyielding to others gameplay, nose up in the air with a why would we bother speaking to you sort of attitude. To me thats a slap in the face due to the fact I WILL rp with them on occasion but certainly not 100% or even 75% of the time. Bottom line is there is no middle ground with the ARPC.

Anyways Seanen my suggestion to you is get in the game and learn the lay of the land, study other guilds and learn about them before you decide to join them. No need to jump right into a guild when there are so many options to choose from out there. With creating your own quild as Smoot said always an option. With the ability to join into an alliance with other guilds when you have made a name for yourself and your guild.

Good luck to you and your friends on your return, its a great thing to see people come back. But even greater when they are given reason to stay and become a part of the community as a whole.

Thanks for all of the great feedback!
As far as what we're into, there are 3 of us: two warriors and one mage and we do lots of PvM and we're not really 100% opposed to PvP, but that realm tends to be dominated by the min/maxer crowd so we haven't done much there yet... We are also into some light RP, just not to the point of wearing uniforms or being required not to "brandish our weapons is the sight of noblemen"...? Like you said, the APRC is very strict on their rules, and we dug through all of those guilds before I posted here.
It sucks that Morgana won't play anymore, they were just about our speed... I hope that she'll come around some day... We have met a few guilds already that may work, and I hope this thread will bring more out of the woodwork. Or maybe we could form up a guild if anyone out there is looking for the same things as we are?
Thanks for the feedback,
Seanen
