When I was doing the Glade Spawn about a month ago a tamer joined in with a Greater Dragon, both him and his Dragon died a few times and he ended up losing the Dragon. Paged a GM but wasn't able to recover it. It just up and vanished...this I witnessed first hand.

He did say he has used a Pet Bonding potion on his pet.

So I can just c0nfirm that other players have lost their pet inside the Twisted Weald.

I don't know if it just happens in the Twisted Weald, if it's somehow related to Pet Bonding potions or what.

I have heard rumor of pets that have come up missing during hunting in dungeons... This is very disturbing...
I know a few months back ethy's started to go poof but this is the true pet not a ethy that is coming up gone.
I wonder if there is a bug in the pet death programing. If your Stat tab has no followers and it has not gone to the stable... This is something for the Dev to look into...
I for one will not be running my pets till we get to the bottom of this...............

I never experienced that, but if memory serves right, some monsters (maybe dreadhorn, maybe something else) made pets loose loyality at a very increased rate. So it really might be the reason, that the pet went wild during fight and died after.
Not always the owner will see this in the heat of battle, I have also released pets after gaining and they kept their green name tag for a while.

This is a long time bug with dread horn. Ironic we have daily posts asking for bs changes like dying artifacts and IDOC changes. I guess the infamous "devs" aren't the only ones who's priorities are out of order.

Sorry to hear about your pet Emma, I know from personal experience how bad that can suck. The only solution I've come up with is don't take my pets to dreadhorn.

If memory serves, The Skeletal Dragon made Dragons lose loyalty very quickly and unbond.

Yup the Skelly Drag was doing that. Ilsh one located next hole down from Dreadhorn. Mmmmm tamed Skelly Dragon. Whens the short run time event?

Hitting the Follow before the jewels are on and the pet is annoyed with you already. Ghost don't go wild.

Oh I remember this very, very well.... though it was also the skeletal dragon that got summoned when folk rang the bell for Doom but didn't give a gold skull.... I lost my most beloved pet that way my 7x WW Ice... I remember writing an Ode to Ice..... I could scarcely play my tamer for awhile after that the pain was so hard.

You have my most sincere sympathy Emma.

I'm guessing it's a matter of losing loyalty.... as I recall when doing the Skeletal Dragon just before he killed my beloved Ice.... Ice became wild. But in the midst of battle that message got lost. Was later that I found it reading the logs... But he died and vanished leaving no ghost or anything but one very sad previous friend.

Now you may say it is just pixels but as a Tamer you go and work to find the perfect pet.... you tame it, invest hours and hours of time in it's training and then it becomes your hunting companion... you have many adventures together... and you eventually get a sense of pride from such a wonderful pet. Especially if it's a really good one you spent a great many hours searching for. It's not like you go right out and tame the first one you see. And some are gifts from good friends. So losing them is like losing a treasured gift.

There is a Greater Dragon roaming on Atlantic Twisted Weald named "Hero"? I tried to tame him but got the too many owners messages. Just wondering if by chance that is someone's dragon that lost on or if it was abandoned. Only mention it because it's in the Twisted Weald where people are reporting losing Pets.

A similar issue happened to a guildie. He was out fighting w/ his bonded greater dragon and they both died. After he rez'ed he couldn't find the dragon. Logging didn't return the dragon either. It just vanished never to be seen again.

I was hunting with a group in Doom a couple of nights ago. Someone lost a white wyrm. However what he didn't notice, and I did, was the telling words '[name] decides he would be better off without a master'.

Many of these lost pets (probably not all) are going wild without the owner noticing.
I have a theory as to why, but it's not necessarily correct. I always feed my pets at the first sign of a disobedient bark instead of enthusiastic roar when I give a command. There seems to be a growing tendency among tamers to not bother with feeding pets, but rely on merely commanding the pet to maintain loyalty. My personal opinion is, in doing this they are making a mistake. Feeding pets is for more than just bonding.

I have noticed that at times, I would take my pet out of the stable to discover that the stablemaster had not fed my pet for his 30 gold. So check your pet right after claiming him.

I run a pack tamer most my hunting game time. Two of my frenzy are pre pub 16. First sign one needs a belly full of meat is after an "all kill". One stays behind me and the others attack. I seen on my archer tamer that mostly uses a Cu it cop an attitude. The pet auto logging a lot can add up to an unhappy pet. More so if the pet is not out of agro.

The screaming all follow when a pet is getting it's ass handed to them. Wrong timing and a command at death can lead to a bad result.

Aye I know my WW went wild just before it was killed.... was a very, very sad day..... and again sorry for your loss.

A well fed pet is a happy pet.
