So for the past several days on Sonoma I've noticed the help channel blaring an advertisement for buying gold. On a non-EA-sanctioned site, of course.
I was annoyed, so I paged (Other, Other categories) and wrote up the ICQ address being blasted, and the message he kept shouting about selling a mill in-game gold for one dollar, paypal accepted, etc.
Of course, being the UO help system, a few epochs passed and no response, so I just logged.
Lo and behold, I got an email in regard to this:
(paraphrase) "Regarding your GM page on 2/13/2012: You must target the person who is verbally abusing you for us to be able to examine the records and determine if the terms of service are being broken."
Say what?
If you buy your gold outside of the game, I don't care. However, I never approved of players selling items to other players for real currency in any MMORPG because it promotes cheating, camping and duping and other destructive practices because it becomes a business and not a game. But that's just my take. However, I'm pretty sure actually selling items like this inside the game IS outside of the terms of service.
Has anyone else seen this happening on their shards?
