hello and a few questions

Hello everyone,

I have been trying out the free trial recently. I stopped playing about nine years ago because of problems I developed with my arms. After seeing the free trial, I decided to see if the voice recognition software use and the pen tablet would allow me to operate the game. So far have been able to with only a few problems, although I've probably had discussions with a few you that seemed hilarious on your side or possibly frustrating. A lot has changed in nine years!

I just wanted to say thanks for the folks who have helped me get started again, it sucks that I lost all of my old characters (that is a lot of grandmasters down the tube) but I no longer remember any of the account information and have not been able to get any help from electronic arts phone support. Nevertheless several of you have given me tons of stuff so thanks!

A couple of quick questions:

if I use a slayer weapon that has spelled channeling will the strength of my spells against that creature be doubled or must be a spell book that is a slayer weapon to get that affect? Obviously cannot afford and undead slayer weapon but just curious since that is what I'm shooting for because taking on mummies is the only way I can really making money right now.

How are people making money getting started? Several very kind people donated money to me up to 30 K. total which allow me to pick up rune books and reagents and ultimately some pretty cool gear but it seems like inflation has kicked in over the last nine years. I am amazed how much it costs to get moderate tier stuff. So far I am blades shooting the mummies of level 1 of the undead dungeon. Occasionally hold the earth elementals that they do not pay as much. Any ideas for a mage with a skilled of approximately 81?

Sorry for the bad grammar that the end voice recognition freaks out sometimes it is a pain to correct. See you guys later,

Sywyn Hana

Welcome back. I am glad to hear that you are able to play. :)

To your first question...

Slayers on weapons and talismans add Damage Increase.

Slayers on Spellbooks add Spell-Damage Increase.

Sorry, but the spell-channeling weapon does not help mage-spells.

As to gaining gold as a younger player - I am probably not a good one to advise you since I have not tried it in ages. Hopefully someone else can provide some input.

i only just tried starting back myself but i remember my early days and collecting gold.
what i use to do when i first started off was cast fireballs, then firewalls when i could in fenced graveyards, not a huge amount of gold but enough to get you by until i could go to despise and farm earth elemental's which use to a fairly decent way of generating some income, sure 1 ele may not drop alot but they are quick to kill plus they drop gems.
After that i moved down to level 2 and did ogre lords as they are melee only and very easy to kite and do drop quite nicely at that stage.

First, go to New Haven and find someone to sell/give you a cheap-end 100 LRC suit.

Then, try Shame lvl 1, it is earth eles only. They do drop well if you sell the stones, and are zero risk. You can train up your magery there and earn a buck in the meantime.

After being able to summon and invis, I would suggest to "all kill" farm Daemons - easy game at that stage.

This has helped me to build up a nice character in the last weeks... but don't be fooled - with the current inflation you will have a hard time getting even adequately well stocked compared to the average player nowadays, no matter which strategy you follow. :)
