Having a weight limit on trash barrels is very annoying

There are pros and cons to that. Once you secure your trash barrel, items inside it count towards your house storage limit until they are deleted. So it's not always feasible.

I don't remember it emptying when full. I think there is still a 3 minute wait period.

It will empty when full, but only if all 125 items are in the trash barrel, not inside containers within the trash barrel. But, you can use containers to help bypass the timer a little, by placing any container in to begin the 3-minute timer, then any items you add to that container will not reset the 3-minute timer. Just gotta be a little more careful when adding things to the trash since they can instantly disappear, but otherwise it really helps to speed things up when you have so much to donate already!!!
