I have stepped away from UO for a while,and I have decided to return.My first character I'll make will be a fisher/chef type crafter. Have things gotten better for the cooking profession from a year and a half ago when I stepped away?

Welcome back.
Im new to being a chef, but Im pretty sure its the same as it was. On a brighter more positive note, there is an expansion coming out soon thus there should be new things for crafters to make. There is also a BOD change in the works, and a supposed "look over " of crafting as a whole in the coming months of course.

Heyya, welcome back
I think in the period you've been absent they've "officially" posted up to date and clear info on the UO playguide regarding how characters hunger and food's (lack of) influence on gameplay, which is nice. Also I think use timers were placed on enchanted foods, making them less gimpish and less of a gripe for those who don't like their inclusion in the game.
Other than that, nothing major.. Cooking's still Cooking
