It's been 2 weeks or so since all the production cities were taken down, and I chose NOT to take the bullet train so I could keep my house. And I understand that these things take time, and as a paying customer I think I've been MORE than patient waiting for the "Merge."

But, well, I find myself now asking on a daily basis, "Why am I paying for a game that I cannot play?" I'm not complaining about the game itself or some the bugs and glitches that have popped up, that's to be expected. And I do know the Devs are probably working very hard at trying to get everything correct and working, but the waiting is finally starting to wear on me, as I'm sure it's wearing on loads of other Sims.

And, no, I am not "venting" or whining, just very, very tired of checking my Sim in Calvin's Creek every day, just to find him still there with nowhere to go. And, please, do not tell me to create a free account or another Sim, because I personally don't want to go through the entire process of getting my skillz up again.

I know no one has the answer as to when any particular city will finally be merged, and that's the scary part. It's just that I do really enjoy playing this game, but cancelling my account is looking like a wise option with every day that passes by with no merge.

Continue to be patient. Many of us are anxious for the merge to happen. Rest assured, they're just around the corner!

Migrations, Moves, Merges, and Updates
Posted in Update, City Merge by Greg on the March 5th, 2008
Let’s review where we are at with migrations, moves, and merges:

Test Center is merged into Test Center 3
All west coast cities are merged into EA-Land (IH, JP, DC, MF)
EA-Land and Test Center 3 are settling into their new homes on the east coast.
Managed to perform moves, bullet train style, here and there for remaining cities (with exception of Betaville).
So what is going to happen next?:

Today Test Center 3 will get updated with a new version. Lee will tell us more about that later.
Today or tomorrow EA-Land will possibly be updated with a new version. This update will be to fix the re-fix of the fix for the lease error.
Moves, a.k.a. the bullet train, will run as much as possible between now and Monday, March 10th.
Monday March 10th, we will resume the merges in the following order (previsouly determined by random drawing): EJ, DG, CC, AV, FF, BF. (Note: these are all sizeable cities that may in fact take more than one day to merge a single city and we will only do one city at time).
When all the standard cities are complete we will investigate the possiblity of merging BV - at this point it is unclear whether we will be able to merge it. The good news is that we have been able to move (the bullet train) characters with their objects (but not lots or simoleans of course).
Well, I think I’ll go fire up the move engines. See you all in EA-Land.

Regards,

gk

There is no need to get your 'skillz up again', with a new EAL sim, especially if you do not intend to play it after your others arrive....it can be your Tourist Sim.

You can use it to scout the lay of the land, check out the hot houses, search for old friends, visit Town Hall and talk to the Dev's, look at all the Custom Content, comparison shop the stores for the new pricing, etc.

It could be a lot of fun and give you a head start on learning to deal with the new game format and options.

You can just play, bum around and have fun, without bothering to skill, until your main sims arrive!
