Ok, there's two schools of thought here that everyone is gonna Johnny Storm me with, so I will admit them up front.

1 - The High Seas expansion JUST came out, and it was chock full of content. I am sure the massive majority of the programming staff has not only spent the time to build it, but have been chasing bugs and this is their main area of focus.
2 - Beggars can't be choosers. If you want a loaf of bread, and only got the crust -- would you prefer to have nothing at all? Given the circumstances, the devs could have quite easily said no Halloween this year due to item 1 on my list.

But, still.

This year's Halloween event smacks of a lack of effort. The trick or treating was NO different from last year, and it's obvious they just threw a switch to turn it back on. Just a LITTLE effort like ONE new treat would have been nice.
The pumpkins using player nametags is very scattershot and inconsistent. Good ol' Nox of Sonoma must be liked by someone up there (erm, or Down There, since its halloween), because EVERY THIRD PUMPKIN is named after him.
The Hellhound Event had a lot of sizzle (quick event, and I gotta admit those demon hellhounds look cool!) but it's such a one-and-done shot. There's no story, no reason, just a monster creature upgrade. And per usual, he's insanely hard to take down.

I know the paragon of ingratitude is that kid sitting by the Christmas Tree over his open present, and looking at his parents, saying "Is this it...?!! That's ALL I get?"

But honestly, I kind of feel this way. It was a Skimpoween, it felt like it was thrown together in a week.

And going back to disclaimer 1 -- High Seas is by far my favorite expansion in years, and it was a tour-de-force, and I love it. However, compared to last year, with the Crystaline Essence and masks? This is like following a steak dinner with a PBJ. And the crusts were still on!

Flame on, folks.

Would have preferred a Zombie Undead invasion on the halloween shard.
Some say the Abyss shard had that, but I did not try that then.

I know this wasn't the point of your thread, but full of content? You've gotta be kidding me. I've played UO almost religiously for seven years and this BOOSTER didn't interest me in the least bit.

It's nothing like this scenario. We are paying for development...I want to see some development that actually HELPS the game rather than making it worse.

Honestly, I agree with #1. I personally have LOVED the upgrade to UO, as I love fishing, mib and of course, the pirates.

Granted....there have been several bugs, and I'm sure that they're trying (God we can hope) to fix them (it is better than a week ago, so a good faith effort is being made at least!).

But, in reference to the Halloween..Last year I literally devoted the ENTIRE time period the event was going on to nothing but that, just Halloween.

This year there was basically no choice as to which I would do. The Halloween was so weak that I have decided (after the Hellhound experience and lack of new items for trick or treat) to just continue upon my merry way with the new expansion and hopefully enjoy myself more than the Halloween event would have ever provided me personally.

Now, I do think that the Devs have at least tried (kinda) to please everyone, and hence, the 'thrown together' look that we have.

Sometimes people get imapatient and whine, and because they at least try to please everyone some of the time, we end up with events like this...Half baked and last minute.

I absolutely love the High Sea's expansion, I'm a little disapointed with Halloween, but, meh, I'll survive!

Thanks for the great job on the new expansion Devs, I for one TRUELY appreciate the new content/mobs/upgragdes that were LONG overdue for the fishing/treasure hunting.

In my opinion the two new peerless alone make the booster a success! I would always be willing to spend some dollars if we can get new boss encounters.

Why are you people saying there were no new trick or treat items? There are 3 new items, as well as new colored webs...

High seas was boring. I love the ships, but theres really nothing but mib to do with them, as pirate hunting seems like a waste of time, and the fishing quests are pure masochism. I got like 5x the enjoyment out of this publish than I did out of the booster, and I've still got stuff to do.

While the Halloween activities aren't as engaging as last years or the year before, the hell hound killing was fun enough. I just wish that being a werewolf did something for you, like opened a new area, or continued that quest somehow... but its nice to see werewolves anyway. Ive been wanting to be one for ages.

Ehn, I appreciate the new Halloween content and 13th year rewards. That's just me though.

It would be a lot more fun if they turned on the shopkeepers turning into zombies they had a couple years ago. When they remove Glass Swords there will be nothing Halloween about the event shard.

Yes, there is a nice freeshard script where Zombies also attack monsters and can make Zombies out of them.
The script says, only use on limited areas and not on life shards as it has happened that whole shard populations were killed and the contagion was uncontrollable.

Im not tooooo worried about halloween this year,

however, i am worried about the drop rates of rares since HS and halloween. WHY PUT 'artifacts' in sos if i get them in every damn chest? I was fishign right away after the patch, but right away there was tons of everythng on the shard. Not becuase of tons of peopple fishing, but becuase of nearly every sos chest getting a drop. I have given up on selling the stuff and simply dump it in my "unravel" bag. The drops at corgul are the same. When it says the top 6 attackers get a chance at a drop shouldnt equate to ALWAYS get a drop.

WAY TO RUIN THE ECONOMY.

Did they hire politicians and wall street agents to develop the game?
