Gypsy Wagons as Player Housing...

Watched a good bit of Saturday’s broadcast and saw the sketching of the gypsy wagon in the grouping on player housing (a few buildings, houseboat, etc) and taking in the concept of the game thought that a gypsy wagon would make for a fun aspect of player housing. I was able to get the question asked by the Stratics staff later that evening, so I know that it’s not an “out of the gate” thing.
I thought a bit further on the idea and sketched out a series of notes as follows:

Basics:
- A small, portable player house that can travel along established roads on the overworld map.
- The wagons would be unable to enter towns
- The wagons can access hex locations adjacent to the road based on two criteria of that hex being “safe”
- – The hex is an “empty” hex in fields or forested areas
- – The hex has an existing camp started by another player
- Storage would be equal to the smallest player owned static house
- Settings for entry privilege would be the same as a static house
- Wagon must be encamped in order to explore on foot or the camp can be used as a safe place to log out (like Camping or the old tents in UO)

Inside the Wagon
- Walls should be able to be decorated
- Space would be somewhat cramped, but there should be room for a few items as well as storage chests

Outside the Wagon
- The wagon should be able to be painted or decorated as the player wants

Encampment
- A camped hex when entered would show the wagon or wagons with a campfire
- Once a player has established a camp, another player with a gypsy wagon would be able to join the camp
- More players/wagons in a camp would make the campfire larger in size with the wagons circled either tightly or loosely as desired
- Multi-wagon camps should have a max number allowed per hex. The idea is more for small camps than large “cities”
- Possibility of having the player run NPC vendors in camp that must be “packed away” when on the move? If so, at what size of encampment should this be allowed if at all?
- Could an encampment come under danger from area animals or monsters? This could play into the defenses of the camp with setting the wagons in a tight or loose configuration.

Wagons and PvP
- Travel in a wagon should NOT protect a player who is on a PvP+ quest
- If on a PvP+ quest, the wagon should be attackable. If the PvP+ quest item is stored in the wagon, the wagon should be able to be entered by players fighting against the wagon owner to be plundered
- – PvP with a gypsy wagon, should this cause damage to the wagon such as disabling the wheels which would have to be repaired?
- A PvP+ questing player would need permission to join an encampment created by another player. This could be done by informing the intent to the camp leader if they are online or allow the camp leader to set such a permission when the encampment is created
