Guild Wars 2 Will Not Be A Time Vampire Compared to other MMO’s

The many MMO’s I have played I catch myself sinking in tons of hours just to compete. Taking a look back on hours and hours of my game time it’s scary that I wasted some of my life sitting at a computer. How many times I would say to myself just one more hour, or let me finish this quest? To many to count.

As I look at Guild Wars 2 in the BWE’s I have participated in, I find myself at not rushing through the game just to compete. I just look around at the game environment. I can just run around and enjoy the game, or play when I feel like it. I do not feel rushed to sate my game ego. With the knowledge I can use the same character the higher levels I achieve and go back to lower end content and still be challenged actually makes me just want to play for fun and enjoy my time.
Warhammer Online, DaoC, Rift, and UO I could say were time vampires when it comes to gaming. I wanted to get to that end game content as fast as I could. Hours of my time each night were dedicated to leveling or working skills. Farming items in the game to have the best armor was my goal. The games in truth owned me not me owning the game. Plus with paying a subscriptions, I felt I needed to dedicate those hours to squeeze out every penny I had paid.
When I got to where I wanted in those games I did not know what to do. I continued to farm items and spend hours because I trained myself to gather pixel crack for the “just in case I needed them later on.” The realization “I’m bored of this game” was not to far afterwards. So the time vampire had struck and I am now searching for the next new exciting thing to fulfill my time.
Guild Wars 2 has made me realized what a great MMO has to offer. Fun and enjoyment. No need to be rushing and missing out on content. Not to be in the elite class of gamers just to say I am one. I will be there in time but when I “choose “to play and not “feel” I have to. MMO’s should be about fun and enjoyment. They should be short entertainment like an hour or two but not time consumers. Nights of 6 hour s of gaming be gone. I found the game I can just pace myself gaming and enjoy time with life.
