Greater vs. Shadow Wyrm

I have not taken my Greater Dragon to fight Shadow Wyrms...but I am curious...how do they stack up?


I often wonder why they bothered with the Greaters instead of allowing us to tame Shadows. I always thought that Shadow Wyrms were really awesome!

yea for real, and ever since samurai empire, when they started lowering stats to allow powerfull monsters to be tamed, they have no exscuse to not let us tame some of the cool end game monters like shadow wyrms.

Also would be cool:
serpentine dragons
ancient wyrms
pheonix

and also, all the other classes get cool artifacts for their classes, why cant there be some more super rare cool lookin pet spawns that are more powerfull then normal ones. Maybe a green dragon rare spawn, with a stat boost. We have things like colored hirus, but i think they should expand on that.

When taking your greater up against such an opponent as the mighty shadow wyrms you have to keep a couple things in mind.

#1 SW are necromancers. They cast wither so vetting is basicly out. They will retarget the tamer evry time,

#2 They will cast animate dead. A LOT!

If that dont scare you The Greater should tank them very well. I sugest a peace/mage tamer so you can heal at renge and break the animates arrgo on you as well as stay invisied.

I like to bring my peace/pally and have at them!

I've hunted Shadow Wyrms with my Greater, they do pretty well just gotta heal them with magery from afar if need be

I have thought about this as well.

I would of loved to see the shadow wyrm and or the Serpentine Dragon tamable instead of making a all new creature (the greater dragon) for us to tame. With just a few tweeks both these Dragons could be balanced. The shadow wyrm would need to have wither removed from its spell book for sure.

This is kinda elaborate but I thought It might be cool to tie the wyrm and serpent drags to karma. Something like If you have max postive karma you could control the Serpentine Dragon with 100 tame 100 lore,If you had neutral karma it would take 120 tame 120 lore to control. Same would go for the Shadow Wyrm sept you would need Neg karma .

I'm not huge on taming myself but little is a challenge with a greater dragon. Mine is not even fully trained and I killed a paragon baldor lol. Now, those were suppose to be a challenge once. Shadow wyrm won't be um, much of a challenge.

That's actually a pretty cool idea I think! In the past there had been a bug where someone a long time ago had a shadow wyrm stabled. I think mainly it never got taken away since that particular person never abused using that pet.

I have always been one for wanting to have a shadow wyrm. More so than the greater's. Greater's are kinda boring to watch personally speaking.

The least they could have done was make it a different graphic than the regular dragons (and drakes).

Heck, they could have used a smaller version of the Ancient Wyrm! I've always loved that graphic. And we know they're perfectly capable of making smaller and larger versions of the same graphic.

Then again, we shouldn't make too much of an issue about new graphics... they might give us 2ders something that looks like the KR dragons. *Barf*
