I was told by a guildie last night that GD's get boosts in 2 skills if they can be trained up after taming in 2 skills...wrestle @ 120 or above, and magery @ 120 or above. This was the first time I had ever heard this. Can anybody confirm this, or point me toward a post that confirms this, I am very interested to read more. Thanks!

It's not a boost, it depends of the skill they had before taming.
I think it's wrest, tactics and eval. when tamed the GD will loose 28% of the skill level but can be trained up to 90% of his pre-tame skill

As they can have those skills close to 140 (max) they can be close to 126 after taming and training.

The magery skill doesn't work like that, the highest it can get is at the level it is after taming. But it can be pretty high as i have a GD who is 123.3 magery after taming :)

if your GD was 104 magery after you tamed it thats the max. you'd have to find and tame another to get one with higher skill.

if it died and lost skill and now its at 104 you just have to keep at it - magery trains SLOWWWWWW

I understand they lose 28% when tamed, I guess I asked my question wrong :( What I am asking is if there is really a difference between a dragon with 119.9 wrestle, and 120.0 wrestle, or mage at 119.9 magery and 120.0 magery. I know for toons there is a bonus to damage or spellcasting when you reach 120 skill ...does the same apply to a GD (and if so, can you point me to a post that proves it) My guildmate is looking for a dragon that after taming will train up to 120+ wrestle, and keep 120+ magery (since magery doesnt go up it will have to be tamed with high magery already) This means searching for a dragon with approx 135 skill in both wrestle/magery BEFORE taming. He is sure there is a big difference between 119/119 and 120/120...is there anything that supports this?

I don't know the TESTED answer, you can easily test... Start out with a dragon at 120 wrestle (trained), let it die a few times til it's at 119. Re test dmg/to hit chances. Let it die some more til it's at 118, retest. etc.

It would make more sense to me that instead of large chunk steps it'd be a formula and every point of wrestle has some small influence... but I'm just pulling that out of my butt.

Regardless, you are gonna want a dragon with 120+ effective wrestle after training anyway. And high magery would be a nice bonus too.

Go tame yourself a half decent one and then keep upgrading as you find them and hand your old dragons down to newbie tamers in your guild. Or let them loose in newbie areas and watch the chaos ensue. >:D

I always thought the point of high wrestling 120+ was hit chance/parry factor as shown on. use the calculator for hit chance

http://uo.stratics.com/content/arms-armor/combat.php

As for magery, I realize that a high magery greater dragon is needed when fighting high level magery or poisoning mobs/players. It affects damage taken, damage given and cure chance. 120 magery is 100% chance to cure with archcure for deadly poison.

following excerpt taken from:http://www.uo.com/fof/fiveonfriday96.html

"What is the formula to calculate the chance for Cure and ArchCure to detoxify poison?"

The Cure formula is as follows: Chance to Cure = (10000 + (Magery * 75) - (poison strength * 3100) / 100. This means that at Legendary Magery, you have a 35% chance to cure level 5 poison.

The Archcure formula is as follows: Chance to Arch Cure = (10000 + (Magery * 75) - (poison strength * 1750) / 100. This means that at Legendary Magery, you have a 100% chance to cure level 5 poison. On everyone within a 2-3 tile radius of you. And you only need 63 Magery to successfully cast it 100% of the time. Hmmm...

Not true.
My personal 2 #1 was tamed and started with 107.1 magery when he was bonded. Now 108 sevral months later. #2 is a monster with 110.4 at bonding, now 111.3
No bless on him, no effects, either at bonding or now.
Maybe i just run mine a lot compared to other folks, as I hit the gauntlet at least 3-5 circuits every day after work.
