Gossamer Spawn Rate

The Sicarii quest is not done until you get 10 gossamers to spin the big web.

By my calculation that takes 5-10 hours of just sitting there in Sicarii's room waiting for drones to spawn in the corners: Sitting in one corner, a set of drones came about every 15 minutes. Sometimes one of the drones had a gossamer, sometimes none. And sometimes another player was faster and killed all the drones first. That worked out to one gossamer per hour for me.

Don't say, "Learn to kill them faster. Run around to all 4 corners." This is a zero sum game, what I get faster is what somebody else gets slower. The whole quest is jammed up against a slow drone spawn rate. Dumb little gossamers should be easy to get, the big bad spider is the hard part.

I got 5 gossamers in under an hour. It wasn't very hard at all... just distract but don't kill Sickie and wait for her to spawn and chop the spawn.

I think this is a very poorly thought out way to do this quest. What you have is lots of people wanting to farm the gossamers so they are camping the area. That in turn prohibits or severly limits those of us who just want to finish the quest and get out of there.

Yeah, because what is happening is that folks who are farming go in, hide, and let the people really doing the quest fight Sickie, until she spawns her feeble legions, and then the farmers unhide and frantically dispatch the wimps, and take the gossamers.

The farmers bring sicarii to the exit gate room, invis, and leave here there. That way they are free to farm all 4 corners without little questers running around causing havoc getting everyone killed and asking for rezzes

I am glad you cant pull mules through .... only way i think they could have made it better is , if they did same as treassures of tokuno system where after dealing so much damage they drop in your pack.

I like that they arent insurable for the fell side. was killed bunch of times too and they never got looted by a mob.

It took a group of 6 of us about an hour and a half to get the 60 gossamer's to complete the quest. It was actually pretty aggrivating because you kill the boss but then need to sit there again for a long time, and the boss spawns rather quickly...

I saw a stack of 10 for sale in Luna for 1 mil.... and I can see where they would be worth that for the time it takes to collect them!

That's what really irks me! I just want to get 10 so I can get me a web for my own personal use. I don't want to sell them and the greedy people are keeping people like me from finishing the quest. I will be out of town starting the 13th and won't be back until the 17th so if I can't get this quest finished before I leave, I won't get the web!

Last night before I even realized they had spawned they were all killed. There were several dexers there, a least 1 greater dragon and one cu sidhe, then add the mages into that. I left last night with a hopeless feeling that I would never get my 10 gossamers. I don't mind if it's something I just can't do but when I could do it if it weren't for all the farmers then I get a little irritated!

That is the one thing I liked about the 25K ticket quest. There was no way ANYONE was going to be able to farm what you needed and keep you from getting it.

On a side note, I'm rather disappointed that the dev team didn't make anything easy enough for young players to do. This is supposed to be a special holiday event, and all of the quests require high end chars to do. I have been able to do them, but I feel sorry for the little guy/girl.

I got a batch of gossamers real fast...

First, go in the morning when there are few other players. From shard up until school gets out is good.

Second, do as Xel Naga (above) said: Lure sicarii over to the exit room and leave her there. Then you can kill drones and chat in peace.

If there are others running around fighting Sicarii, resign yourself to a very long 5-10 hour wait sitting in the corner.

I wonder if the terathan drones really do drop gossamer elsewhere in the T2A lands?

Yep... there's the same two or three guilds just constantly camping the drones on Pacific and it's getting a bit frustrating. Each of the corners has a small group of people just sitting there with poison fields and wither spam to kill them the second they're triggered. Does anyone know if you have to do the quest all over again in Felucca to be able to go down to Sicarii in Felucca Khaldun?

I believe what he is inferring is that if you go to the Tetheran Keep in T2A (either facet will do), you will find the drones, bearing gossamers, without having to deal with the Sicarii room.

Some of us have work schedules that prohibit us from being able to do that.

For casual gamers one would think over a while you would have many skills worked up over the years placed on different characters or soulstones. I simply have every skill worked up sitting on stones so I can easily swap out for what I need in any situation. You should think about doing that, that way you can adapt to any situation without any trouble.

And that's life, people with power and people without. People who have and have not. If everyone was able to get everything there would be no economy in or out of game. The fact that they made a limited spawn means either you get an organized group of players to go in and work together to get everyone their items or try to solo against a group of players who are working together. You can bet the player doing it solo will have a lot less chance than people who take the time and organize with the right chars and communication to study how the event works, how the spawn happens, and how sicarii attacks.

All I see day and night is ignorant players casting EVs wondering why they keep getting webbed and killed instantly. Even people dead still ask for rezzes when their EVs are still beating away on Sicarii wondering why they're being webbed when they're a ghost or why they die instantly when they accept a rez.

Here's a tip, study the attacks of any boss whether it be sicarii, bone liches, shadow fiends, and adapt to it. Don't just mindlessly run in and expect it to be easy and special items handed to you.

I'll even do you all a favor and outline how exactly not to get killed repeatedly since "some of you have work and can't do it"

But luckily the players complaining all day don't know any better and haven't the slightest clue about world spawn to know that they've been there since before the event. But since someone spilled the beans I'm sure everyone will be camping tera keep now as well.

It is not the spawn rate, it is the [censored] who keep riding around in circles, killing every single spider you're just trying to engage with a Meteor Swarm right in front of your nose. It is those people, who, if you ask them kindly to give you any chance for looting rights, just answer "blow me". And if you look at their guild names, they always will wear tags of those 133T, 0Wn, D|R and other incredibly named guilds. Figures!

I haven't had a problem with two of those guilds, and the third I've only had a problem with two people (who, as far as I can see, are constantly there).

In fact, as far as the PvP guilds you've named, I've had nothing but support and encouragement from them in the last week.

But your point stands, it's the people who are getting in the way. I just wanted to point out that they aren't all bad.

last night i spent 2 hours in the sicarii room on atlantic (tram) waiting to help kill sicarii so i could get 2 more chars through the quest. every now and then i'd cast some EV's but they do nothing to dent sicarii's health. the only people in the room for the 2 hours were gossamer farmers. they kept stashing sicarii in the moongate room so she wouldn't attack. it was very frustrating. there's no way i can kill her myself. it was rather appalling that no one else was interested in killing her. wow, i'm whining alot in this thread LOL!!!

Even when not part of an event, it being broken is detrimental to play there, and it is something that has been broken since Third Dawn.

In Chesa I waited in vain, I had no chance in those corners because a necro was seating on them and by the time I tried to cast a spell he already have killed them all. I was hoping he will get his 10 and leave, but he was there farming with little care about the other players who were there to complete their quest. It is really tiring. Unfortunately, Terathan Keep fixes aren't included for the time being. It's not so much unlocking the door than fixing the mechanism that controls it and generally speaking give some love to the Keep as a whole. This will need to be done at a later time. But as far as the Halloween Quest is concerned, between the upcoming changes in Sicarii's Lair and the current drone spawn in every areas of Tera Keep, you guys should have np getting the gossamer you need.

Folks are paying 200k per for the things on Cats. I sit there at the spawn one one comp hidden waiting for someone to help fight Sicarri so I can get spinnerets for my other chars. On my main comp I try to get as many chars through the other parts of the quest as I can.

A good deal of the time no one is there so I'll farm gossamers. As soon as someone shows up I hide and continue getting other chars through the quest.

But there is one fella that is there alot and gets downright nasty if anyone tries to farm on top of him. It looks like his strategy is to annoy folks out of the area. He even lures Sicarri to them and hides. I am glad to read they (the devs) are working on this issue. Maybe that would be a nice bonus for those 80 skill beggars that were upset about small webs for Halloween.

Took me 30minutes in terathan keep to get 50 gossamers, i think you're doing something very wrong.

On Sonoma I took a tour of newbs on the quest last night, I first gated them to Yew where they all gather around Jasper like school children to read the book and question Jasper. I then gated them to one of the Graveyards where they all beat on the lich to get the green scroll in the pack. Once that was done, [had to kill it twice as one did not get the scroll on the first kill], we were off to Khaldun.

Now at Khaldun they were like children in a museum, everywhere except where I needed them, but finally they had the black book and were ready for the run to the bloody pond. I gave the warriors invis potions and instructed all to cast or drink invis at the pond, double click on the black book and target the pond, once they got the red bloody book to recall out where I would gather them all up once more.

Then back we go to Khaldun once more to see the guardian and to learn from him of the house, once inside there I had them all recall off my rune book to the house, and there, at the house, pointed out the location of the book they were to read. Once they all had done this we were ready for the march on Sicarii. Now here they got lucky, another guild was there with greater dragons and they were able all get credit on the kill and get the Venom Sac and the Spinneret.

Now came the hard part, getting gossamers, but now that we knew that we did not have to hunt here for them many of the troop decided then to leave and finish the web another day. Over all a very fun time was had by all and we enjoy this part of the quest very much.

I also have done this quest four times, on a tamer, a bard, a archer, and on a neco/sword. Each time before learning of the spawning of gossamers elsewhere I remain in the chamber of Sicarii's and hunting the minions to get them, but after learning of the gossamer spawning several of us have farm them in the Keep to help our fellow guild members with the completion of the quest.

when we (oceanians) got to khaldun to go dip the book in the blood (just for area verification) we have some invisible objects to deal with, first one is at the start where you walk in and there are arcane demons red npc's and some imps
the other is passable if you stick to the wall but is in a walk way on the way to the blood pool.

i finally got my 2 chars their spinnarette's last night on atlantic - when i went down to sicarii after work there were a lot of people bashing on her and some greater dragons helping - so i got my kill credit and got my webs
