Hello All,

I thought I would make a post to answer some general questions about bans and warnings and explain how this works to a few.

If you get a flashy envelope with a message from me then you are getting one of two things...
1 - A friendly reminder to take care
This includes a note that usually is factual and sometimes sarcastic but is basically a kindly reminder of the rules. It is just between us and is left at that.
2- A Pm that says .. "Post removed user warned"
When you see that one you are getting an on the record warning which consists of a post by me to all other mods and admins to read if they wish about what went on. Most time you will get two of these and be banned for duration after the third. This is not a fast rule because some get banned with one warning based on the vulgarity or content of their post.

I think on average very few of you get banned because we realize you ARE the community and everyone loses it sometimes. ALOT of you know that.

I cannot tell you some responses I get to a removed post and friendly warning....

Today someone told me they don’t care they don’t come to auctions and I am not on Fel so they don’t have to deal with me. I am not sure what either has to do with the rules here but OK.. And for the record I spent more time in Fel then most anyone here. Just because I don’t kill people does not make me a stranger(and my 6 fel houses make me a resident).

I get pointed to other posts that they think should be removed or are worse, all I can say to that is ... I did not get to them yet .. or decided it was not so bad. Please use the Mod Notify button if you think a post is offensive and I will scrutinize if more closely for you but that has nothing to do with your warning.

But the best I get are the supportive posts by most of you who know the trash I must thread through daily and how fair I have always been. The community needs us all and the few rules of conduct Stratics asks us to maintain to me is a small price to pay for the audience.

I hope you got something from this, enjoyed it a little, felt sorry for me or at least understand a bit more! The community is US !

I can vouch for that, for a while I posted in the UO Hall, before I finally became overwhelmed at the sheer amount of posts there, now I just browse it. Anyhoo, On one post, which was about what you think the worst thing that has happened to UO was, a fellow had the worst possible grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure I've ever seen, and I made a pretty bad mockery of him. I got a flashy within an hour from the mod, stating that it was "a poor attempt at trolling". I thought it was a rather funny attempt, but the point is I was pretty spoiled from being here, Mystra let's more go that ya'll can imagine. Be kind.

This is an untrue statement. He doesn't let anything go. Again, although I am his favorite, I still get flashy envelopes if I cross the line. FDAU is his second favorite and he has mentioned getting a flashy envelope from Mystra a time or two.

Mystra simply allows folks to express themselves without jumping to the conclusion that it was meant as a 'troll'. He knows that the Great Lakes community is a close-knit and passionate one. I have NEVER seen ONCE that he has ALLOWED anyone to get away with anything. There is a LOT that goes on 'behind the scenes' that we are not privy to.

My flashy envelope history is long and storied. Some of Mystra's and my PM's can be quite colorful. I will say he has never been anything less than fair even when he dosent decide my way and thinks I need a little off time from our boards. BTW I still have the flasy envelopes from Tony Dobbs (Kuan) saved as well *shakes fists in general direction of Luna*

I think you do a great job because the GL boards are by far the best shard boards on Stratics....keep up the good work Mystra!!!

Mystra is the fairest I have ever seen, I got a flashy envelope on one of the boards for simply asking someone and I quote 'do you get up on the wrong side of the bed everyday?' warning and post removed because I hurt someones feelings.

Careful about that fist shakin'! You do realize that Tony Dobbs/Kuan is well connected with SLEM, don't you?

Update: New photos of more of the dangerous members to watch out for. Remember, these SLEM are very dangerous! I can't say that enough.

Amish Pete (Uses this disguise and always seems to manage to not have his entire face photographed.

This is Curly Dave. We are still trying to learn exactly what he does for SLEM, but he has been seen carrying a purse on several occassions.

Being Mystra is not always easy as we all know.
Great Lakes is a very colourful shard with many layers of personalities, it is suppose to be a rp game afterall.

As a reporter I have had to deal with many a personality and that was/is just a tip of the iceberg compared to a mods job and as we know the textures and layers of Great Lakes are wildly woven and complex.

As a reporter and a GL player is it a comforting feeling to know Mystra has been here for years helping the community and keep things under wraps while giving us all freedom to express ourselves in our own ways with an intelligent mind and sometimes soft heart.

I'm trying real hard to say something supportive to you Mystra because I appreciate how hard you work and fair you seem. But everything I type is turning into something negative about this person and I have to keep editing what I honestly think about it. *laughs* Sooooo...I'll just say a heartfelt 'Atta boy' Mystra, before I get a flashy envelope too!

I just finished a repose to said person also to a new pm after i posted some of the things said to me with new acusations more talk about whatever happens at auctions ( i am still baffled how that applies) and disputing my Felucca residence;&lt; The worst one to me is always that I play favorites, In order to play favorites iw ould have to have emotions of which I have none ;P Just a desire for us all to share the community in a way we all enjoy!

Oh and I would liek to add a point.. did you know your PM's are also subject to ROC? I HAVE NEVER ENFORCED THAT or lots of people would be banned much abuse has gone over my PM but I dont let it bother me , you must always consider the source and if it makes you feel better to vent then vent on PM better than the forum ..
