Golem Training

I made a new character with swordsmanship and was going to train it on a golem. I got the golem and a 100% poison sword and started whacking at it. My swords was 60 when I started and it hasn't moved at all. The only skill that is gaining is anatomy. Does anyone know why my swords wont gain, or what I am possibly doing wrong?

Thanks :)

70 weapon skill to gain, I think tactics is 65. You can however use jewelry to get you there.

If you have SA you can get one of those skill tutor crystal balls which will tell you if what your training against is too challenging, optimal, or too easy. It's a quest that needs demon bone and dragon blood.

Same with pets, you need to be +/- 25 skill (20 is even better) in Tactics/Wrestling/Combat skill, compared to what you are attacking to gain. If whatever you are training against, you can use jewelry or discord the opponent. Works great for pets.

You also may consider using the Satyr's discord in Twisted Weald when your skill gets up there aways.

Just for future reference you can also use a NON-GM golem to train skills from 0-70 but need a GM golem to train from 70-120. So either get a NON-GM golem to train with pre 70 skill or just train / jewelry up to 70 and then start with a GM golem.

When you make a golem, the wrestling and tactics will vary, even at GM. It's best to have a tamer lore it for you. If a golem rolls too high, say 90 wrestling and tactics, then it becomes difficult to gain at 60 skill. However, you should be able to gain skill in the 60s if the golem is lower, as some have touched upon. For example, I've went 65-120 on a GM made golem, without supplemental jewels.

Simply give yourself a +wep skill/tactics jewel to get ya to 70 for the time being if you're having problems, that should do it.

go to a dungeon and gain properly instead of AFK luna "training"

and you will find that anatomy tac and swords will rise as you go, despise level 1 lizardman should be safe enough

But... that's playing the game and enjoying yourself. Why in the world would anyone do THAT?

I have an even better idea....

Go find you a wild golem in Ilshenar to train with, using a 100% fire weapon (wild golems have 100% fire resist and are weak against poison).

You can still pound on one creature the entire day to gain, but there's risk involved, and you'll get to train healing and parry...

I'm really sorry but as i've trained Swords to 120 about 10 times now, Lizardmen in despise is not something I enjoy. I would rather whack a gollem while I watch something that actually interests me on TV or DVD and watch those skills rise just as fast, if not faster.

And I do it all while at the keyboard :p

Sometimes I wonder why we don't have the Test Center commands to raise skills...

You really need to use Golems on a boat while you fish up Serpants, after awhile you wont even get a spell off before that fishing buddy of yours, kills one or two Serps at a time.

Hehe if you can't get prepatch can also use SW and get an arctic ogre lord instead of a golem :p (they have 100 poison resist too)

99 is fine for me although if you rig a fast weapon can sometimes kill a golem that way.

Both position I can agree with I've trained weapon skills up so many times including the old bone knight wall. Also it just means they just have to separately train healing which is annoying. but starting on a new shard the first character you do it the old fashion way and in funds the essentials for your next one.
