Giving SA Client Another Try?

Ok, last week I gave SA client a go and found it difficult to get into and bawled about a few things that were lacking.

I had no idea it was so easy to mod and Gildar sent me an amazing mod that I installed on top of the Copper skin to show the Diablo like health/mana balls. So easy to see health now out of corner of eye.

I might just have to invest some more time in the SA client after all.

That's actually pretty shiny.

I'd always thought it would be nice to have health/mana/stam in some sort of reticle around the player character for ease, but I'd forgotten how well that worked in Diablo.

How do you tell your health from your balls? (Never played Diablo) Do they get less and less red or something?

Yes, as your health drops the ball becomes less full until it is empty and you are dead.

Now I haven't tested the mod yet to see what it does when poisoned or mortal wounded. I guess I'd like to see it turn green or yellow - but I'm not sure Gildar was able to include that feature in the mod.

Pretty cool though. I always liked the Diable health and mana orbs.

If I coulD figure out WHY MY WHOLE DAMN MAP IS YELLOW!!!!! , Buildings are there, but Tiles are YELLOW!!!!

why to the balls gray out and become useless onClick?
That is a bug. Don't click on them, and they'll work just fine ;)
I'll have a fix for that in over the weekend, hopefully.


Now I haven't tested the mod yet to see what it does when poisoned or mortal wounded. I guess I'd like to see it turn green or yellow - but I'm not sure Gildar was able to include that feature in the mod.
Nope - not yet.
My list of things to work on, and the order I plan on working on them (at the moment - might change):
1. Stop the balls from accepting input.
2. Showing poison/mortal wound states.
3. Pulling some things back a bit to make a more easily extended status bar UI component (the one built into the client is horizontal only).
4. Swapping the graphics out for something that I can distribute without the risk of Blizzard getting very angry at me.
5. Adding in stamina, weight, and follower status indicators (I plan on trying to be extra creative with weight and follower bars).
6. Making each part as configurable as possible.

Sorry the irony was too much!

On topic - the mod looks great. I remember my old Diablo I days and this addition will make it easier for my not-so-young eyes to see what is going on.

None of that will get me to the EC until the EC resolution for graphics is at least as crisp and smooth as 2D. Not sure why that needs to be said since it's supposed to be developed on better technology, but since I keep saying it...

I'm really enjoying the client. Im having a blast looking for the Turkey maps, with the new enhanced client is so easy.

Which "graphics" are you referring to? If you zoom out to the 1:1 aspect ratio, the item and house art is as crisp and smooth as the classic client. I just wish the default zoom level was at the 1:1 aspect ratio for the art.
