UO chat = Nerd Rage & E-Peen central
Barrens Chat = Noobs who try to be funny (chuck norris anal etc)
I see it all the time...mostly from people PvP trash talking . but, I often find it quite amusing--almost a second form of entertainment within the game!I am not sure about other shards, but a couple I play on, most often I see people talking quite aggressively towards each other on the General Chat.
Is that also on other shards ? Why is that ?
I think I can put it a better way...
Popps, why do you always argue over stuff on here, constantly? That's your answer.
(Yes you like yo down-play it as "debating" but it's still the exact same thing)
I read something from stallone saying that norris, van damme and steven seagal were all asked to be in it but declined/couldn't.Hey Chuck Norris RoXors and should definitely had his room in the Expendables

I read Van Damme declined because he didn't want to loose a fight in the movie to Jet Li.I read something from stallone saying that norris, van damme and steven seagal were all asked to be in it but declined/couldn't.
Yes it is just a bit of an inconvenience to someone who stays in fel and plays in fel like myself, to be excluded from general chat because of the actions of others.Frankly, the answer to popps' question is an easy one.
Despite wishes of the general populace to the contrary, the devs chose to have a "General" general chat, instead of the "General-Felucca" and "General-Trammel" channels that were present during the initial testing on the live shards.
99% of the hostile crap (much of which is against the game rules of conduct/use, in terms of language violations), is trash talk between Fel guilds before, during and after fights (including raids). People have been paged on before because of stuff said in that chat.
One of the things I hope to bring up next weekend in Fairfax is the need to put a "cone of silence" over the Fel talk in General chat.
They need to make it to where conversations in Fel stay in Fel only, either by enforced channel selection, or making it to where those in Fel can hear the talk of people outside Fel, but people outside can't hear them unless in one of the other channels (player created, or the default ones for trading, help, etc.)
While this can be a bit of an inconvenience for Fel residents, they need to consider that it's better for the game not to subject everyone to their trash talking - not to mention safer for their accounts.
General chat was a bad idea to begin with, it was never going to work. It is just another way for PvPers to grief each other before and after fights. We have enough ways to communicate with each other, Guild chat = universal chat, Alliance chat = universal chat, Party chat = universal chat. Then there is face to face chat, for that up close and personal chat. To be honest I am embarrassed at some of the trash talk my guild mates use to taunt the other PvPers, but what can you do, once it started it gets way out of control fast, reporting people for the use of bad language and/or offensive phrases does not work, either the GM's can't access the chat log files or they are just not interested.
MHO is that its done nothing positive for the UO experience and needs to be moderated some how but im not sure how.
It's because General Chat is used primarily for PvP / Yew Gate, and because tensions run high during those situations. It's pretty funny, especially on Test Center. I turn off chat whenever I can, but every time I make a new char EA puts me back in it, sigh, haha.I am not sure about other shards, but a couple I play on, most often I see people talking quite aggressively towards each other on the General Chat.

I made the PvP chat channel on one of my reds because I was embarassed and felt bad for the trading and conversation being interrupted by certain individuals (who are on my ignore list anyway) and their inability to moderate their language. This means that unless someone joins it while I am on that character the channel disappears when I log off. A more permanent solution is definitely needed to seperate the facets. The thing is, there already is a "PvP" channel, at least on Europa, but they don't bother with it because they want an audience for their idiocy; where ever the majority of players are, they'll end up going there to trash talk... that others don't enjoy it is part of the appeal. And reasoning that "you could get the same disgust just by pooping your own pants" doesn't work either, because they are addicted to the affect they have on you... it doesn't matter how easy, or how dumb it is to get it, they must have it, that wrinkling of the nose. So all you can really do is Global Ignore people like that; forcing people in Felucca into a "Felucca Chat" will just alienate the decent players who, for what ever reason, have chosen to live there as well.
Ahh it's yours, this I did not know. But despite being a true "Trammie", I can't agree with separating the Facets, because most of the trade chat would be Trammel based, and which also goes on where the majority of players are, and Felucca players should be able to access that too. And of course, some will have friends across the divide... and EM events tend to be based in Trammel... nope, allowing the potty mouths to force a solution on the entire facet isn't going to be a useful solution I thinkI made the PvP chat channel on one of my reds because I was embarassed and felt bad for the trading and conversation being interrupted by certain individuals (who are on my ignore list anyway) and their inability to moderate their language. ...........and no real reason to behave.
Not all players have equal access to good manners or education. Some players have much more time and resources and hoard all the manners and education, creating a monopoly. This is a huge disadvantage to those who miss out and creates imbalance in the game. The developers really need to address the way that manners and education are doled out to players. Some have far more than others and use hacks and cheats to obtain them. This is unfair on the honest or casual player. Please remove manners and education from the game or make them available to all.Hmmmmm, could "perhaps", just perhaps........, be good manners, education be enough of a really heck of a good reason to behave ?
Easy Popps. When people can be anonymous they like to show how tuff they are because there are no real life consequences.I am not sure about other shards, but a couple I play on, most often I see people talking quite aggressively towards each other on the General Chat.
