Gargoyles and the +3% LMC bonus on non med Armour

i was picking away at my old Throwers suit and thought that maybe id update it for him. in doing so i thought id take advantage of the LMC bump from non med armour. now since my guy dosnt use med but rather focus i thought this would be a easy win for me. but after doing some reading i think Garg's very well may be getting the short end of the deal with the LMC bonus.

this is what you can make to get the 3% bonus;

Studded leather, hide armor, stone armor and bone armor provides 3% of LMC per piece

ok, so armed with that i go to make some armour for my guys.... except there is no studded, hide nor bone armour for gargs.
so then i think maybe ill just make it normal human and alter it over.
then i find this little jewel;

Only leather/leaf armor arm, tunic and leg items can be altered, Studded/hide items cannot be altered

oh......
ok

so if i want to take advantage of the +3% LMC perk for non medable armour as a gargoyle i HAVE to make it out of stone?

that seems a little one sided no?
or maybe im missing something here.

hmmmm

so if i DO make a suit out of stone, which ive never done so it may be fun to try.... but if i DO then does stone get any bonuses like the different ore and leather does?

i found a write up that states it gets the arms lore bonus and EX crafted bonus, but i cant find anything that says that if you use colored stone you get a bonus as well.

so gargs CAN get the 3% LMC bonus, but only on a armour type that isnt easy to make and you get less resistances that if you used leather or ore?
am i getting this right?

do we not have a emote/smiley for beating a gargoyle with a pointy stick?

Coloured stone will grant the same resist bonus as coloured ingots to the stone armour.
Good luck finding the coloured stone, and then finding it in enough quantity to make armour, though...

Poo, I've made a couple suits for garg throwers out of stone. It's really not any more difficult than any other armor, other than finding the colored ore to enhance the pieces I made. I managed to mine enough stone to make a lot of pieces, put the suits together, then enhanced with valorite. Since I only used three stone pieces and one metal piece (I used plate for one piece to reforge some HCI on them...I didn't have enough runic mallets to try it with stone), I didn't need a lot of valorite stone for the enhancement. Also, make sure you make an amulet instead of a necklace, since the amulet is stone and also gives the 3% bonus. I wound up getting my garg to 53% lmc with a suit designed like this. You can hit 55 if you use stone on everything. Furthermore, if you use an amulet, do NOT waste a charge on a hammer trying to enhance it. Amulets can be enhanced with the rarer ores, but they do NOT get the resist increases from it.

I agree with Poo! It is way too difficult to get the 3% LMC bonus per piece on gargs. The runic mallets are too rare and there is such a limited supply of colored granite available. I wish there was a studded leather option for gargs.

excellent info bro!
exactly what i needed for info.
i was fearing i would have to make the item out of colored stone so its good to know it can be enhanced with the colored stone. while still a pain not as much as a pain as i was planning on!

are you sure about the amulet getting 3% ?
i have one on right now and im only getting 1% for it

Stone amulets get 3 percent bonus. thats why they were patched in, to allow for gargs to have the full 55 available. you might have a necklace on.
Special granite types add resists just like metal to garg stone / metal armor Except amulets / necklaces / earrings. This is because gargs already have a base resist bonus on the other pieces.

Garg armor has come a long long way since it was initially introduced, and overall is much easier to make suits from. 5 hci garg racial is huge. ability to reforge 3lmc stone with copper hammers is much cheaper than tailoring.

Only drawback is your val mallets arent really worth it. too expensive with very small chance of getting useable pieces.

i think if my memory is correct my amulet was metal made so that would be why its only giving me the +1

The only way to get Runic Mallets, is to do the quests at the Ter Mur Public Soulforge that give the Imbuing Power Scrolls. You have a very small chance of getting a Runic Mallet (which only have 10 Charges) as well when you turn in that quest. Each quest requires either 50 Magical Residue, Enchanted Essence or Relic Fragments, so you can RAPIDLY burn through base Imbuing ingredients trying to get Runic Mallets. Honestly, it's alot easier to get Tailoring Runic Kits with Bribing. Hell, it's even easier to get Runic Fletching Kits, than Runic Mallets.

i said cheaper :) i would Never do those quests. i buy runic mallets 500k per copper. you get less mods than horned so easier to get clean 10stam pieces. yes they are sometimes none available, but if you clean out a vendor 50 or 100mil usually gets alot more workable pieces than the same cost of horned / barbed.

Not sure I understand the above ..... It is possible to use blacksmithying copper runic hammers to reforge Stone armor ? I thought that runic mallet and chisels were needed.....

That is, smithy runic hammers for metal ingots and mallet and chisel runics for stone and tailoring runic sewing kits for leather......

That is not so ?

Also, after mentioning the use of copper hammers to reforge stone, you then mention the drawback of using valorite mallets....... which is which ? For stone one uses copper runic hammers OR valorite mallet and chisel runics ??

Thanks.

May I ask why you prefer the Copper Mallet and Chisel instead of the Shadow ones ?

They BOTH offer chance to 100% intensity BUT the Copper ones have a chance at 3 Maximum properties rather then the 2 which the Shadow Runic offers thus risking, when enhancing, to have a double roll on the same one property BUT together with some unwanted 3rd property which then makes the piece not usable (thus wasting the double roll low chance....). Wouldn't it perhaps be better to just go with the Shadow Runic Mallet and Chisel for reforging Stone and hope for a double property roll (over the CAP 100% intensity reforging) and then imbue all the rest of the properties needed ?

shadow you cant get 10 stam. most stone suits you would be reforging would be 211 stam suits. only thing shadow is used for is 5hci reforge, which you cant get with 10 stam, and isnt that needed with garg since you have 5hci racial bonus.

yes in other post you quoted i meant mallets in both cases.
