Gargoyle Race...

I am a returning player, but starting over with nothing. Playing as a gargoyle seemed like something fun to try but I have discovered they do not seem to have an area for new gargoyles to learn the game within Tel Mur, and going to haven is nice except for not being able to use any equipment that drops it seems. ("Gargoyles cannot wear this").

Did I somehow overlook or miss an area meant for new gargoyles?

If there is not such an area, how would a new player deal with getting any sort of equipment as a gargoyle without having to rely on handouts?

I don't know of any that is similar to New Haven. New Gargoyles are born in the Royal city and that is where you will find shops that cater to Gargoyles. There may be a few "new player" quests in the Royal city, but I don't know of any. I do seem to recall reading somewhere that the Devs intended the Gargoyles to be an "advanced" race and therefore played by already established players. I don't know if that is true or not, but it would seem so given the examples you provided.

Thank you for the replies. After several hours of searching through old forum posts I think I have finally answered most of my own questions regarding Gargoyles and thought I would post here what I did find, maybe it will help others looking for similar answers.

I still do not know for sure that there is or is not a newbie gargoyle starting area, but the closest quest to where you appear in the game when creating a gargoyle is a raptor quest. One of those by itself pretty much one hit killed me, and they spawn others when one attacks you, on top of that, they seem quite fast...not very newbie gargoyle friendly at all.

As far as equipment. The new areas added in the expansion are where gargoyle stuffs are dropping. But again, too hard for new players. If you have a friend that is already at least GM in some of the craft skills such as tailoring or blacksmithing, then you can get a number of drops "converted" to gargoyle equipment for your gargoyle to wear. Seems like some artifacts are able to be converted as well, but not all.

It may be beneficial for the new player or confused returning player to go ahead and stay with making an elf or human, to go through everything haven has to offer, and make use of anything given to them easily. If that player still wishes to be a gargoyle in the end, soulstone fragments can be crafted (i believe) to help with moving the skills over to your new gargoyle. If you are planning to do this, remember to save any power scrolls (skill and stat) both for when you are truly ready for them on your gargoyle.

Your best bet may be to find a friendly guild that has blacksmiths, tailors, and imbuers willing to help a new gargy out. Not sure of your shard, but Atlantic has many helpful guilds with great crafters willing to help you get started. Simply go to Haven and ask around, but be patient - we are not on 24/7. If you can't find what you need check back a lil later.

Gargoyles to me are severely limited. Their armors are way overpriced. However on my shard Napa alot of the gargoyle artis sell for cheap. Mainly because no one plays them.
