I once got 5 shadow eles in 9 swings in Ilshenar on Lake Austin. My miner/smith is also a paladin/legendary macer, so I had Enemy of One cast before mining.
I never stopped mining.
By the time the third elemental arrived, the first was dropping. The second hit the ground about the time the fifth spawned, and it was only a matter of a few seconds to finish them off.
The end result was 260 shadow ingots, and 7 iron ingots. Only 10 shadow (5 large ore) and the iron (3 large and a mid-size ore) actually came from mining.

9 shadow elementals? Ouch. I hope not all in a row at once! Nice for ore though. I got 196 verite ingots from that vein, 2 golden and a little iron. I should have counted the iron for records but I was preoccupied with drooling over the verite.

Nothing I like better than my gargoyle picks actually getting me a few of those big stone beasties!
My trusty earth elemental slayer works happy wonders on most all of them. I switch weapons for copper eles, cause doing too much damage fast and often on them can leave me taking a comfy dirtnap. I have a brand new smith hammer weapon to test out against them, too!
Tomorrow night should be test night for it, cause I got a couple copper bods that need filling.

Yeah, it was 5 over 9 swings, without me stopping my mining; when the vein ran out, about 15-20 seconds after I started mining, I was surrounded by 5 corpses. And, despite not having healing at the time, (was a couple years ago - I added barely enough to rez others last year) when it happened, I only fell to about half hit points. These days, using an elemental slayer blackthorn's kryss, I'd probably not even fall that far in HP.
And, Lilac, I know the pain. My first day in a week or so mining, yesterday, and my usual start place had changed ore types. My first swing brought up a piece of iron ore - and a paragon copper elemental. Before I knew what hit me, I was dead.

I use an earth ele slayer sword which works great most of the time. The best way I've found to handle the copper eles was to put on max reflect physical damage. And hop on your fire bug if its guarding you cause they smash bugs up pretty fast. Fire bug on guard duty helps with most other eles a lot

I have a suit that has a lowest resist of 65. Typically, I can beat any non-paragon without having to heal, and the only paragon-class elementals that give me trouble are the coppers and Valorites (and the BREs, but who wants to try to solo one of those?).
No, what got me was....
wow, got one on first dig - wonder what type it is (as it lands its first blow immediately on showing)

BAM (drop to teens HP)- Ouch, that's a copper I just Armor ignored.... good thing I hadn't cast Enemy of One yet... better back off and heal

LMAO Yeah thats how it goes with valorites for me. By the time I see I spawned one, my packy, bug and I are dead, and i see the light I'm suppose to walk towards is actually nothing more that a blaze dyed skull candle....
