Gargoyle Mage Artifacts... short end of the ugly stick?

I didn't really see many good mediable damage eaters for mages in the pub 65 and original SA release.

There's the Dragon Jade earrings which are Fire Eater 10, but it doesn't say Mage Armor - does this mean it's non-mediable? Or are all Dingbat earrings mediable (as all rings are mediable)

Then there's Spined Bloodworm Bracers which are cloth, look like they are more for a warrior with HCI, and have Kinetic eater 10%. I believe Kinetic is physical damage, but does that mean it includes melee weapon damage?Or does it only eat only physical spell damage such as earthquake?

Also, shieldwise Garg's don't seem to get much other than the Mystic Guard..

Meh.

Lastly anyone played with Casting Focus and how do you like it? I got those obsidian earrings a few nights ago, but not sure it's worth giving up 25 DCI in my earring slot for 4% Spell Focus.

Erm... suggest you read up on how the new properties work. (check Logrus' posts)

Wait... why would you want a shield other than the Mystic's Guard? It's probably the best shield currently existing for mage or fighter.

Damage Eater is "meh" and has already been nerfed a few times into even greater "meh"-ness

Casting focus is... "So So"

Some people wouldnt consider the low % Worth wasting the Armor slots for..

However, IMO, I have 5% Armor % Inscribe (10% Total) And I personally Love it.

In group fights, you wont see it very useful, however in 1v1 Fights, there have been multiple times i've killed people because they expected that Hit to Disrupt the Spell.

Thanks both for the answers. Too bad about the "Meh" ness! And great point about the stacking between inscription and casting focus... something to consider.

Does anyone know if Faction RBG, or regular RBG, can be converted to Gargoyle?

I had a GM smith and tailor try to alter it last night, but it didn't work. My tinker buddy wasn't on, I'll hit him up tonight to see if it can be altered with GM Tinkering.

Thanks

Its only 1k Silver (5 Minutes of 2x Evs in Blighted) So buy one and Test it out!

And if you are on LS, buy my staff of Resonance.

Edit : The Glasses Are Tinkering, So it might be, However, Being a Base Plate Armor Piece, I'd really expect it to be Blacksmithing, so you might be outa luck.

the faction folded steel glasses do convert with tinkering. they fit in the earring slot after conversion and look like "Oakley Gargoyles".... a gargoyle, wearing gargoyles! :p

i'd already purchased my RBG, was certain it would convert with smith, but no dice. Tinker and tailor, no dice either. So faction RBG cannot be converted to Dingbat. Not sure if this is a bug or not, as both a Garg and Hummie/Elf have a chest slot - theoretically it should convert. I'll try a non-faction version when I get a chance.....

Imo the Gargoyle Glasses look like Extremely Cliche 80's Glasses to me.
