You know the first serious prediction of UO's imminent demise that I've found was about one month after the launch. It was on the old UO Usenet Newsgroup and the issue was the lack of working ferry service between Skara and the mainland....

I think my first was a bit later on the original UHall (UOSS, pre-Stratics) and on La-Wiz's board back when Everquest was being announced. Of course it just went from there...so many titles, so many "xxxx is gonna end UO" posts... Play to CRUSH!!1!, the Dawn hoax (I can't even see the word Dawn in a game title now without thinking of THAT one) and on and on.

Even I know this thread is all in done in sarcasm, I still get a jolt of adrenalin at the thought the game is over. If it were over, you could all expect to see my obituary in the paper.

I wouldn't go that far, although I'd have a bit less to occupy my evenings (I'd be down to Path of Exile or Civ V until later this year)... probably end up watching more Gordon Ramsay or something.
There is so much more to life than crap tv....

I hope so but I've seen enough of these posts, explicitly sincere ones, to not immediately think that such a thread must be sarcastic.

Honestly, even after a 3 year break, coming back into UO is like coming home - my "alter ego barbar" can get out, scream, slay dragons and the occassional pker.... just wish we had bounty...
anyway, I got a stack of regs that says is gonna be a revert. I say.... about.... 3 hours worth. After all, that's how much fishing I did today.

Ok, I'll explain the joke: Some of us have heard this before... as far back as 15 years ago, so why not have a little fun with it? It's kind of like End of the World predictions. Some nutjob comes out with their prediction, we all watch it happen (or really... not happen) and laugh and remember the previous End of the World scares. Same thing but with a UO twist.

Dermott of LS - I've always used UO to get away from my intensive compulsary cursed addition to ART. Painting all night instead of sleeping ruins art rendering paintings overworked to be done again. Now I play UO to get away from the canvas, get sleepy, sleep and wake up in a good shape to work again. HELP! I don't like watching TV. ... bangs head on wall ....

Usually I end the evening shutting down the desktop system and moving to the Netbook in bed reading things like TV Tropes or Cracked (or a book if I'm in the midst of one)... LOL! Was my reaction too when I woke up from a rather long nap. I knew it would take a long time to get the servers back up so when Mesanna announced the shutdown, I logged of & went to relax... but fell asleep.the only surprise is HOLLY COW it was never so FAST and unlaggy than right on...maybe its because i am the only one on
When I got back into Napa, I was like... dayum! I should go do some PVP in Fel!!!
