Now I never post about GMs, but today I was going to tame a bane dragon. As I was running in the Slasher teleported me to him, he was stuck on some rocks. When he teleported me to him, I died. Now my body was stuck on the rocks out of reach. I didnt have much on me, but I paged a GM to come help. I told them my body was stuck in an unreachable spot after being teleported my the slasher and I could not reach it in normal game play. With 15 seconds they replied that it was "NOT THE ROLE OF A GM TO HELP IN THESE MATTERS". Well what the hell is the role of a gm? Maybe if they turned off World of Warcraft while working maybe they would have time to learn the ROLE OF A GM, because these guys are clueless.

Thats too bad. The only two times ive needed a GM in the past several years, once one appeared in game, and helped as much as he could, but was unable to solve the issue (it was a bug issue, so its not his fault) and once because my house was gonna decay, and while he didn't show up he spoke to me, and refreshed my house, so I didn't lose it.

Maybe SP just has some good GMs associated with it.

For the same token then, should we not receive a discount of some description for the discounted GM "service" we now receive, rather than pay extra for an item that helps solve an issue we should normally expect a GM to solve?

Any option to help ourselves as I see it, should be included in the subscription, or said item should be freely available to all players, without additional charge.

The genuine stuck player, most likely uses the help stuck button, no gm lap dance required.

As far as the increased rate, no matter what they spent/spend the extra on it is their business. That the game is still around......well seems they done good. It is after all just a game.

No stroking required here.

Of course the OP had the issue of not getting his body back, not being stuck...

Question for you Evlar. How many times pre-tram did you lose your body? And did you page a gm every time?

There are great Gamemasters, decent Gamemasters and Whats this game? Gamemasters. I would have just repaged until you got a great one. If they yell at you for Help Abuse ask to speak with their supervisor. (Assuming they have one, I've never tried it but it seems like a good idea in my head.)

Also submit the Slasher problem to... uobugs?? Maybe the team can look into that spot and try to make it so the slasher doesn't teleport up there.

Also it would be nice to have a current job description for the Gamemasters. Something we can read, maybe we should request that.

Wow. So 2:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. ET is not the time to page, lol. Except who plays then? Eh, I've been helped plenty of times by GMs during primetime hours though.

To the OP, and anyone who hasn't experienced the Slasher stuck spot yet, a guildmate of mine got stuck in a similar way recently. However, I came over, Slasher teleported me to him as well, I invised, rezzed my friend, she got her body and recalled out, and I teleported out and left too.

So it goes Friends > Help Stuck > Page GM, and if you can't use Help Stuck, then explain how you can't use Help Stuck to the GM. Haha, of course, there is a good chance if you call friends then both of you might have to Help Stuck :s ... so I really hope the Devs take a look at this area.

You know what would be really cool? What if a ghost has been unable to get rezzed in say 5 minutes a prompt comes up and asks the ghost if he/she wishes to be teleported to Luna? You'd probably lose your body waiting but at least there would be an out.

I guess another alternative is just use a Seed from that tree while in Abyss .

Undertakers Staff is invaluable in getting your body back in order to retrieve your belongings of the corpse and is one of two ITEMs at the EA/UO store that I would recommend people purchasing for game play with real money. Atlantic is currently the only shard that has the staff’s for sale for in game gold, so unless you are on Atlantic, you will have to pay $$$ for one.

I've used 10 charges off my Undertakers Staff since I purchased back in December. I’m very stingy with how and when I use mine due to there is no way of recharging them once they are depleted. Can't say enough about how useful this staff has become during the EM events when the floors are littered with so many corpses that you can't even pick your own name out after 10minutes of using "All Names".

Problem with staff is you have to be alive to use it if you get stuck and can't use help stuck to get out then you're pretty much screwed if a GM won't help you.

The OSI GM's were great, Austin's GM's were very good to us.
Until EA moved the game to Redwood, Calif.
Then they were just ok, what new ones hired were questionable, more trouble then they were worth.
Then the move to Virginia ..... not a gm in sight.. no gm service, just a canned replys.
I miss Oghma, Atlas, Silvani and the guys who were our GM's they cared and played with us.
I called CS once on an issue to be told the GM's are in short supply and a GM from another game would be able to help me if I paged during East coast business time.

I guess we are on our own. Perhaps is why they invented the staff.

I'm sorry but this has to be the worst anwser on their website. I don't know how many clueless GM's that I've ran across that simply didn't know how UO works and it was clearly obvious that they were reading the solution from a guide that didn't pertain to the problem at hand, and when you inform them that what they are telling you to do isn't going to work and will infact cause more harm than good and they respond by saying "do it or I'm leaving", so when you do what they say and the item goes bye-bye, all they say is "sorry nothing more we can do".

As far as getting your stuff back, could you have used the help I'm stuck option, hope to get teleported, run back into the abyss and use a self-rez via sacrifice if you had any. Thats a lot of hopes, ifs and buts.

You can use All Names and while holding that down - right click names and those will disappear until you see the one you want and you can double click that one to open.

The only thing I can give my opinion on is paging for house and decoration issues. I normally get a GM within thirty minutes and they have always helped

I am the house owner and this veteran shield says I cannot re-deed it because I am not old enough.

(GM Re-deeds and asks "Is there anything else I can do for you today?" "Do you require any further assistance?".)

My Dragon Brazier fell under the foundation. I am on the house owner and standing at the area my brazier is at.

(GM grabs it, puts it in my bag and asks "Is there anything else I can do for you today?" "Do you require any further assistance?".)

A house fell and the stew is hovering where the second level of the house was. The stew is blocking house placement of a valid house area.

(GM grabs it or deletes it, since it is suppose to re-deed and asks "Is there anything else I can do for you today?" "Do you require any further assistance?".)

My response is normally.
"Yes, I was wondering if you could grab a shovel and create a moat around my house."

GM Response is normally "I am sorry I cannot do that." or
"That would be really awesome but I unfortunately cannot do that."

Sometimes they laugh and I laugh and then I say that is all I needed and thank you for actually talking to me in CS chat. They say "Have a good day or night and thank you for playing Ultima Online."

I agree with you, but also disagree. You see the GM's are a secondary problem to this situation. The primary problem is the developers did not code bounds checking on the target of a result computation.

You see this isn't rocket science so they hire software developers with the lowest skill and experience. If any developers had a clue the management wouldn't' listen to them anyway to do things right because the company is getting squeezed financially. Management has too much say on running the team and any key developers have no power to improve the teams outlook.

The final check for all the software is to have a test team that writes detailed test requirements and all code would go through regression checks if a module was touched to recognize and find bugs.

The problem here is the team must have the smallest test team and tests using directed testing methods. The amount of testing to find bugs, if no bugs were allowed in a mission critical application would take a couple months.

A company that is being financially squeezed cuts back on everything and uses users and customers to find the software problems.

GM's shouldn't be given the brunt of the blame. It is a leadership and a vision problem. It is a company with dire hardships trying to squeak by on pennies because the stakeholders do not believe in the product or the vision to the level required to achieve customer satisfaction and market penetration.

BTW...If you have sacrificed your fame you can get a free resurrection and all your belongings will come to you.

this is true and id be surprised if anyone registered to stratics would not agree with this, however GMs at one time were magnificent in UO, you could page a gm for a little thing and they would come down and have a pretty lengthy convo with you, GMs would do something about scamming and take action against scammers and such, however this is when Origin owned UO, i say if UO players could apply to be EMs, why can't UO players apply to be GMs instead of getting these random people walking by the EA headquarters and pulling them off the street to be a GM

It all depends on which GM you get so I totally ripped that GM a new one on GM review form. If EA actually read those complaints then the GM will get in trouble if he/she screw up enough times. So I think we should get some confirmation on if they even evaluate GM performance based on those GM reviews sent by players.

While people love to page on other players, I think people need to fill out those review forms if the GM is doing a crappy job.

I saw one recently, I claimed they were 'walking on tip toes' but it was a GM that was a gargoyle, I think lol. We've all seen all types of responses from GM's; canned, quick, slower, queued forever, in person... it shows they are busy with other peoples game issues too. Every single time I've had contact with a GM, it's been very professional and pleasant. If I get a canned response, it tells me I haven't researched enough into something on my own.

Renowned can spawn in just about any area within the mini champ spawn area. It does have a chance to spawn in that exact spot but the likely hood of it happening is extremely low. Its is an existing issue for many different monsters and generally GM will move the inaccessible when asked.

It is a quick fix and GM are suppose to help in those cases but for some reason this GM is either clueless or he was just clearing the queues with canned messages.

Let me repeat again, there is no in game issue that would prevent a GM from moving a monster couple tiles. If a GM can't even do that then we might as well not have them at all.

If you see the Slasher stuck there, don't go near Slasher. Even if you aren't aggro it will suck ya in sometimes (includes if you are hidden/stealthing).

Thank you to all the people who posted. Just so everyone knows it wasnt the lost of any items that got me hot, it was the answer I was given. As a matter of fact all I had on me at the time was 200 to 300 bandaids and a bag of sending. All I really wanted to do was click my body to auto dress. Ok, I know I'm lazy, but my tamer has like 30 runebooks and the stuff is always stuck under them. Anyhow I'm over it now.
