gaining to 120 Magery?

Since the skills forums are down, I thought I'd ask here.

My Mage is at about 116, so I've equipped a -27 wand (so I'm at 89), and spend my life casting FS, with almost zero gains.

This AM I immediately gained .1 (GGS?), then after about 2 or 3 hours of FS's I gained another .1.

At this rate it'll take months to get the final 4 points I need.

Any suggestions? Am I doing something wrong?

are you close to your total skill points (ie 700 to 720)? If so try soulstoning a few skills off then keep casting.

Have you tried casting earthquake just for a change? I remember casting back and forth between fs and eq to get there.

Also try heading to the twisted weald, to get discorded by a Satyr, although it does not increase the gains, it does alow you to cast lower levell spells for gains. The more spells you cast and the more checks you get against skill gains, the more gains you wil get.

I do have one skill turned down, so I'm not capping on points.

I did try alternating FS and EQ for an hour or so, didn't seem to help.

Satyr at Twisted Weald as mentioned above (he will drop all your skills by 29 points when he discords you, just invis so he looses agro then stay near him (5 steps) and you stay discorded) or better go to Doom guantlet, most rooms your going to be casting EE's/EV's with EQ's great for training and you get chances at Doom Arti's

I also suggest
1. for the weald, try getting discorded by a paragon satyr - it's a lot more dangerous, but you'll get another 8-10 points of skill drop. (remember, get discoed, THEN equip the wand after you're safe). Remember that only stay invis for a split second, to break the lock on you - the disco wears off in about 5 seconds if you stay invis. And, anything he provoed on you will still come after you after you reappear.
2. For gaining through casting EVs and the like, go to Blood Dungeon in Ilshenar (blood elemental or daemon rooms), and cast the EVs & earthquakes. you get the chance of paragons for minor artifacts and chests (Which will have maps for turn in - the blood paras have level 6 maps). Or, if paragons scare you, go to Shame bottom level and farm one of the blood ele spawns down there (for 10k point 10th anniversary drops).

Well, all of the above are very good methods. I've used most of them myself.

But sometimes I get so board with skill training I just run off to DOOM or a champspawn or do a few peerless. Get your best armor and don't mess around with -29 anything. Just have some fun for a few hours, you'll be pleasantly surprised by your gains from casting big combos and ev's and such.
