Strange that you can do it when most other people can't... Of course, you probraby run your stealther around naked.
And, there are cretures in the game now that can discord you, so it's prudent to have some wiggle room in your template.
Lastly, there's always the possibility that down the line, the Devs will make stealth part of an "opposed skill" system, where the chance to passively detect (or actively, for that matter) is based on the character's skill versus the detector's skill. Given the number of whines over detecting/revealing and stealthing I've seen in U.Hall especially in terms of creatures ability to reveal), I expect to see something of that nature no later than the release of Stygian Abyss.
Acutally I run all leather or Mage Armor items, running naked would be a death wish. Since I'm a PvP Thief though (I don't mind trying to answer skill gain questions here though) I don't really run the risk of Discord Creatures. While my Real Skill is locked at 75 I have a modified skill over 100 so That might be a large part of it. Lets not forget also that Shadowjump bypasses a passive reveal check, just like if you teleport beside a pet on a tamer when it's fighting a paragon creature, it won't re-target.
Right now my template looks like this. (granted this is for PvP Thieving)
Stealing 120.0 75.0
Stealth 108.0 75.0
Fencing 100.0 100.0
Hiding 100.0 100.0
Snooping 100.0 90.0
Magery 90.0 90.0
Ninjitsu 86.4 71.4 <-- this will be locked at 90.0 real for 105.0
Poisoning 80.0 80.0
Str 105
Dex 100
Int 56
Now this template will work for PvM Stealing also
My Suit has 62/64/70/70/75 resists, I have 106 HP 81 mana and 100 stamina. Along with a bit of HP Rengen and a moderate amount of Mana Regen. Most monsters in the game can't handle Lethal Poison, I deliver that 80% of the time (based on skill though RNG dictates it more often), that's my main killing method if needed, anything else I can easily out maneuver or out run. For groups of low end spawn I have a Alchemist Bauble and a +12 Spellbook that will easily boost Magery to a point I can with some reliability cast Energy Vortex. I rarely and I do mean rarely ever leave stealth mode it's become second nature, and outside of Felucca Passive Reveal isn't a major issue, except on creatures that do radius damage like Fire/Ice Elementals, Ice Fiends, Snow elementals and the like. Carry a few pots and some regs and your generally pretty well off.
My Suit consists of
Burglar's Bandana
Shadow Dancer Leggings
Verite Platemail Do (mage Armor)
Verite Platemail Mempo (Mage Armor)
Barbed Leather Gloves
Barbed Leather Sleeves
The Jewelry is +15 Skill items one in Ninjitsu the other in Stealing with small mods to help shore up weak areas.
I'm Scrolled to 120 Fencing and carry a Dread's revenge, though I mainly carry it for killing Scripters, outside of that it's a nice HLD HCI Hit Lightning Dagger.
Total I spent...maybe 6 mil on my suit, and it's more than suitable for PvM Stealing or PvP Stealing. Though I think the major difference is that most PvM Thieves use stealing as often as not as just a add on skill and not as a main skill. I know not everyone does this but I've seen many that do.
Oh an for those that read this and say "Shouldn't you be in the PvP Thief Forums?" I look at it this way, you guys are the best chance of growth in the PvP Thief community, it's just getting you to take that first step...
