Funny How Inconsequential Bugs Get Fixed

I'm sure white cloth was of the utmost importance to fix.

Meanwhile, TONS upon TONS of bugs with the game go unaddressed, AND there's still areas of SA yet to be made accessible.

Good job.

As usual, you leave the exploit open long enough so that people who exploit early make TONS of money off of it, and screw anyone else on something that, truly, shouldn't even be a rare.

Typical.

x2, really.

I really have to wonder aside from Mesanna if any devs really even bother logging into UO, to be honest.

They could have at least made my Slither talisman dye-able while they were fixing things of little importance, sheesh!

Developers have a list and pick the ones they manage to fix.
Give the few developers time and hope they don't get drafted for swtor.

I find the ones who do most of the whinning are does who have made there zillion bolts of cloth and a few dozen tubs..

But as soon as they see otheres doing they scream that there not the only ones to have it now..

So they cant make the millions in gold they had planed..

This crap is getting to be a joke..

Wrong.

First off it is 'whining'. Secondly, I think they should just have created a toggle to either 'leather' or 'cloth'. I mean, once the door is opened it is hard to close, and it isn't like having white cloth is a horrible thing.

I'm glad I used one while I had the chance..

Seriously though, the tubs should be able to dye cloth too.

The people obviously want this feature, it hurts no one, and has zero affect on game balance.

I whinned at this 'fix' because I made a cloth tub and didn't dye anything, I made it public for people to use and assumed EA would do the right thing and let them stay so people could get the cloth and not have to spend ridiculous amounts to the odd few who figured it out but wouldn't tell anyone.

That might be the case, but I assure you such is not the case here. My issue with it is that (1) why introduce a color that is leather only [it's the same issue I have with the lack of metallic color dyes, mind you], and (2) as usual, they let the exploiters get away with making tons of money, and then whammo, they turn it off so that only the people who made billions of stacks of cloth will be the ones able to continue to profit off of it.

But as soon as they see otheres doing they scream that there not the only ones to have it now..

Well, there are plenty of others who can assure you I made no profit off of this bug. *shrugs* My anonymous word on a public forum, but I assure you, I made zip off of it. But from the forums as well as general chat, I can point many fingers to those who have.

The ultimate solution would be to sell a white dye tub for cloth (and the argument that it devalues white plant dyes is of no consequence since it's both a different color, and a leather dye tub was of equal merit).

I didn't dye any of my cloth items so I hope the devs add a white cloth tub for those of us that didn't abuse the tub exploit. I agree this has no impact on play so this should be available for all.

Everyone should know what the dev always do. I warned them. Once you mention it on uhall it's going to get closed. Luckly I made tons and tons of white cloth bolts just for this occasion because we being playing this game long enough to know dev routine.

Once again I suppose I should not be shocked... But I'm not.

Highly inconsistent things are always done when it comes to DEV decisions.

I'll miss the white cloth tub.

I was kind of annoyed when I read how quickly this bug was fixed. I really don't care one way or another about the white cloth, but there are tons of bugs I do care about that still aren't fixed and may never get fixed.

Fix fields, tracking and everything else that is game breaking. Dye tubs that dye cloth do not fall in that category.

The fix for this bug was already implemented, they simply missed one area it was not applied to. It would have taken a developer less than a minute to fix it.

Maybe they are planning on recoloring every cloth item back to normal in the future. It shouldn't be that difficult considering this is a brand new hue and they know what items it isn't supposed to be on. They already did a fix a while back where certain color robes were replaced with Monk Robes.

Meanwhile certain gold exploit cloth is still everywhere you look

As well as Glacial colored things..... as well as the etherial cloth stuff...

as well as the bright colored runebooks, the bright colored leather items...

The 100's of thousands of duped things...

Yes.... this makes perfect sense.

My vote on this would be yes. However, there's a problem here in that some players may have spent some big piles of coin, maybe, unsuspecting that there was something wrong here. The Devs will have to decide what's the best course of action.

I do agree that they need to do one or the other. Either re-hue it all or make it widely available and screw the cheaters.

Damnitall, Devs. Making black and white dyes was my single source of good income. But whatever you decide, as long as you do something to not let the cheaters prosper, I'll accept. Just my gripe for the day s'all.

Black and white dyes will still be in demand, regardless of shiny-white dye for cloth. Natural dyes can dye waaaaaaaaaay more things. Your income is secure

All im saying is that i had a tub also and was open for free for people to use.
Yes i knew they fix the problem...

And if someone asked me how to turn the tub over i told them...
Reason , i was tired of people trying to charge others for something anyone could have had....
If EA would have made it cloth also..

So now are they going to fix the Trick or Treating colored cloth so you cant use it to make other cloth items?

Goto Luna at look on vendors..there trying to sell 15 peices for 12 million up..

There is one guild mainly seems to be doing this, but thats nothing new for 50% of there players..

I have np with the rest of them...

By the way this is GL...

Im not sure if its a exploit or not cutting the item up before the color disapears or not..

Its up to a DEV to get there lazy asses and answer some questions for a change..

The logical explanation is that inconsequential bugs are normally the easiest to fix without breaking other stuff. Hence why these get fixed first.

Eg, you have 101 things to fix, item 1-10 takes 1 week each to fix. Item 11-101 takes 1 min each to fix. Do you wait 10 weeks to fix the first 10 items before moving to the rest? Or do you devote 90 mins to fix the rest of the items first?

That said, I know the feeling, most of the time, bugs that are beneficial to players gets fixed first or nerfed quickly, while those that are detrimental to game play gets fixed last.

It was probably a relatively easy fix, overall.
At a guess, it was a unique type of item, rather than being a modification of original dye tubs. Therefore they just had to change the properties for the base item, and all ones would be fixed.

That said, there's hardly anything game destroying about letting people have white cloth items. And obviously people wanted it, or there wouldn't have been a need to "fix" it in the first place, because there wouldn't have been a rush to create the tubs and get the cloth.
Same with the cloth-dying leather dye tubs. Another arbitrary "you cannot dye cloth this colour", which was also somewhat unpopular, hence the desirability of the tubs and cloth.

Ain't about the cloth, it's about the way EA handle almost every game issue... completely fail to intelligently test things so bugs come in, fix ones that have only peripheral impact (if any) in a half-assed way that leaves a problem behind it, and drag their feet addressing the harder stuff that really impacts heavily on the game and the customers.

New times.
Anyone still remembers when black was hip?

As for the bug, is what a developer stated last time it happens.
They try to fix it but don't take actions, so basic message I got was 'use it at own risk, but ou are pretty safe'.

As usual, you leave the exploit open long enough so that people who exploit early make TONS of money off of it, and screw anyone else on something that, truly, shouldn't even be a rare.
Omg someone did something I didn't and now they're going to profit off of it omg! You act like it took 3 rocket scientists to figure out how to do it. Took 15 seconds...why didn't you do it? It's because you're morally superior to those who did, right?

Way to take the comment completely out of context and twist it into something its not. Since I've spoken to Ra about this at some length, I know he's not really concerned with profiteering exploiters. He's actually more upset that Mythic chose to 'fix' something as inconsequential and idiotic as this over something more imbalancing.

People obviously want this hue on cloth. I've actually come to like it as well. This is where the ire comes from.

How do you consider half of the post being out of context? Out of context is taking a statement that would mean something else if left with the original text. The first half of the post has nothing to do with the second half. It's not my fault they chose to create a topic and then go off-topic in the same post.

You took it out of context by taking it as the only substance of the post and then assuming that he's upset because he didn't break a tub or didn't know how.

That paricular part of the post was about how Mythic has now created a new rare by fixing a bug that really didn't need/deserve to be fixed. Those people who didn't make a tub and then immediatly dye 30K bolts of cloth to sell for millions later are SoL, and this hue will be relegated to a few pieces of ugly leather armor...unless you pay through the nose to buy a bolt or two.

Thus, "exploiters" have a new stream of income from a "rare" commodity purely due to Mythic's knee-jerk over reaction.

Anyone who reads that post will come to the same conclusion. Maybe he shouldn't sound like such a whiner if he doesn't want people to see it that way. I also want to point out how silly it is to argue that a BUG, something not intended to be in the game, should not be fixed.

Hi Guys,

The fix for the White tub was not done just to correct that issue, players were selling all their tubs to NPC's which we all know should not happen. And yes it was a easy fix to get it while we fixed the issue with the hellhound treat.

Yes you will have a white cloth dye tub soon. So please do not pay for any cloth.

As for the Trick or Treat cloth, it is legal. You will probably see it again next Halloween maybe even with some different hues, *grins* never can tell. We all know we like our colors! *grins*

Thanks guys,

I'm guessing it's the strange metallic colours you and your clothing temporarily change to sometimes when the response to 'trick or treat' is 'trick'.... but could be wrong!

Quite how you'd get that into useable cloth intrigues me though, since the effect is VERY temporary....

Edit : Hah ... obvious really, when you think about it ... but you need to be quick...

So you're telling me fixing Mysticism isn't equally simple? I realize the devs are understaffed and probably overworked, but I think they can take 5 minutes out to finally balance a skill that has been out for over a year. Cal specifically stated that changes to Mysticism were being worked on. It's been how many weeks now? We're still waiting...:bored:

That would be nerfing skills which ny doing so will increase the power of another skill because that skill will be more effected than the now nerfed skill. After this there will be another player constatently wanting to nerf that skill and round and round we go. Ofcourse those players who don't pvp get caught up on this endless circle as well. I would prefer they would beef up every other skill like that we get less people complaining even though there still will be people but without watching skills go from usuable to waste of time in the mean time in turn creating less specific templates needed. But thats another subject for a different time.

Removing magic arrow nether bolt spam is not going to nerf Mysticism. It's just going to make it actually take a little bit of skill.
