Fun Time In UO

UO has lost 1/2 the game for me. Im playing the other half. My goal is 2 billion gold. All from selling items.

I now have glacial hair, with purple red metallic armour, europa gold sash, and trick or treat cloth robe. I am fashion. Don't know if I won or lost that aspect of the game.

Fun for me right now is trying to build a vendor mall of 100 and teach players how to sell for gold.

Most people seem preoccupied by the chase for items, or some sort of one-upmanship concept of "status". Is that their fault or the fault of the game?

I miss playing a simple game, with people who just wanted to have fun, laughs and adventure, in a fantasy world.

I'm kind of doing the same thing... in the course of doing BODs I'm also mining and working my way towards 1 million+ ingots without scripting. I have 600k in commodity deeds so far ranging from iron through copper.

After some point with all the new classes and additions... UO did get complex. Granted some like their spreadsheets and combos and like figure out what works best...

I don't, youre either a caster or a fighter. Save the fluff. Fine or tamer but thats and adjunct to casting or fighting.

I got a bunch of game suggestions a few months back... I tried some... they are okay.

When I get a box of 10 mibs I go fish those for a change of scene or go dig a few treasure maps - levels 3 - 5 mostly.
In between I water plants, mine for salt peter and make it into cannon supplies.
One of these days I'll have a go at scuttling a merchant ship or boat full of orcs with no pirate if I run into them when I'm fishing, but I'm not going looking for them.

So many things I want to do, not enough hours in the day to do them.

Yep, working for a living is important. It be nice to scuttle a ghost ship too.
I collect level 3 maps... I think my treasure hunter can unlock those with magic.

Sounds like you might be playing with only one hand on the keyboard. Try two? I mean 1/2 + 1/2 = full enjoyment no? You could just leave the computer and come back when you feel refreshed? That would be a good start? Or would that be a happy ending?

I've reached my "goals" in game and it is sad I don't like the game in it's current state. I have hopes that the "classic" idea will go forward and I can see if that will spark any intrest back in the game.

But if it's a "no" or a maybe I will close my accounts and glad to hand over my pixels.

I vaguely remember this, too. Didn't the denouement amount to them getting 2,000,000,000gp put back on their vendor, effectively causing them to lose 147,483,647gp (+ however much they rolled over by)?

Seems that the only way I will get ever my gold back is by selling you stuff at above market rates. By my count, ur still down 900 mil...

Keep those inflated offers coming...eventually I will forgive you of your past transgressions.

Which brings this in full circle...it is something I really enjoy doing in UO...getting my gold back.

Fun? Kind of... finished redesigning the homestead and am now going through everything, trying to decide what to keep in the house, what to transport to bank boxes, and what to get rid of. Spring cleaning fever.

The fun moments in UO are when I don't have to worry about items and repetitive boring tasks, but when I actually interact with other players. Unfortunately, those moments have become more and more scarce. Which is why I play UO less and less.

2. Imbue a kick ass suit for him/her
3. Xfer him to Shard X
4. PvP slows down on Shard X
5. Go to 1.

well in fact...

I sometimes chain spawns on my home shard for ps for step 1.

I do mini spawns from time to time to get arties I need for step 2.

I sometimes sell the ps I dont need then use the gold to buy xfer tokens for step 3.

Making bizarre character templates and seeing how much of the world I can 'complete' with no armour and a lack of items. I still refuse to wear armour on any character I have.

I also enjoy interacting with players hence my current character. A tinker, tamer, alchemist, golem master.

Well I see people are having fun. Ive built houses. I have three in a corner of Ter Mur. I xshard to trade and bring back wares. Started a naked player and armored up from monsters only.

That's it. Gold is too easy, item collection has gotten dull, the AI is not challenging, the Felucca PvP isn't my style (for whatever reason), I despise being a trader.

If it weren't for my guilds, I would cancel my accounts today to focus on my real life.

But roleplaying is much to fun for me to quit now.

Coincidently, I started the "naked character" around christmas time. Now the character has enough imbuing ingredients to start a shop of its own (and build a really nice suit). I haven't decided if I'm going to continue that project, since I'm just a part-time player and I prefer playing with other people.

The stuff I've done of late has been overwhelmingly focused on the event. Last night, I worked the invasion in Trinsic, with others. When the Blackrock Golem spawn in Magincia (Great Lakes) is active, I work it. There was an EM event Tuesday, there will be one Saturday.

I have fun every time I play UO. If I log in and discover I am not having fun, I will go do something else.

I figured more responses would come to this thread.

I'm not. Most of those having fun playing the game are having fun playing the game, and don't necessarily want to cut into their play time to post about how much fun they are having.

I pvp. I have a blast. I built a great suit on my main a year or two ago, and I haven't done anything with it since. I have less than 20 mil in gold total between all my characters on two accounts. I loot enough pots and other crap to keep myself going, and I have enough gold to buy what I don't loot enough of. I'm happy.

I tried another MMO that's in beta right now, and it was ok, but it was way too much like WoW, and it just wasn't as much fun as UO has always been, and continues to be. There are just so many different things you can do in UO. There are so many different ways to play, and goals you can have. Nothing I've seen in any other MMO even comes close.

Me, too. The nice thing about UO is that (unlike the real life working world) you can log in or not, depending upon your mood. Even what some may view as repetitive boring tasks can be pleasant activities if you know you don't really have to perform them. Some days I imitate Scarlett O'Hara and say, "I'll think about it tomorrow."

I may not have as much UO time as before but I like to mix it up according to my mood if there isn't a community hunt or EM event on. Lately I've been dancing with paragon balrons again or trying out skills I've never done before like mining on nights when insomnia dictates a little repetition. Usually by the time I check out bane infested towns on LS they are already clear of danger.
