Frost Drakes

Loving that they are back. They are like the McRib of UO pets.

I noticed they have a pretty tight spawn intensity (a range of about 300) so something that is even 100 from the cap doesn’t rate that high.

That said, 50% frost drakes are stronger than 100% crimson/platinum drakes. And no dragon breath to slow them down!


I tamed like 40 now and best I have gotten is 70 intensity. That said, the different between 70 and 80 is very small.

Pretty much anything close to 50 intensity is good in my opinion.


Anyone get a very high frost drake (McRib) yet

My best one is a 76% one. I still prefer the look of a 100% Cold Platinum Drake though. Plus, it's not exactly clear whether Cold Wind is actually a long term DPS increase over Dragon Breath, due to Dragon Breath having a cooldown and Cold Wind not, so Cold Wind tends to suck down Mana and detract from AI use more. Pity Cold Wind doesn't debuff Cold Resist

Yup it is tough finding a 70 up that has 180+ dex. But same for % on all of the drakes. When we turn on Kotl I'll bring up a bunch of them and try to get the best one.

We were talking about this yesterday when someone was trying to get the best Firesteed. Some pets are difficult to get good rolls. Rams are horrible also. Then you have the Phoenix where you look for a 95%+.

Now that is a sweet idea that would give these pets more value, rather than keep them as paper weights and stable slot occupiers, as they indeed are at this time! There are far as I know not too many other pets with the "cold wind" special. This would make them unique and useful. Right now and after all the effort, their main advantage is their looks. Other pets are way far superior.
Could this be suggested to the Devs with the next M&G?

make a useless ability good so it can be in the rotation of desirable pets.

Thing is though, Frost Mites come with Cold Wind, and can also learn Rune Corruption. The combination of RC halving all resists for 4 secs, with Cold Wind also further debuffing Cold Resist, would be pretty OP.

On a different note Frost mites are possibly one the coolest looking pets and I home our wonderful, beautiful, fantastic Evil Lady keeps her word, and try to make them rideable. (Is that enough buttering up or what?)

Exactly! I want those things to get OP! And rideable. They are very under rated as they come with insane amounts of training points and do 100% cold. If cold wind was a good ability it would catapult them to the top of the pets list.

right now with most of the current content being focused around winter stuffs my frost mite is spending alot of time in the stable.

Hehe. Yeah, i spent 5-6 hours farming Frost Mites the other week, killed close to 1,000 of them before i got a 2 slot Frost Mite with 85 Cold/50 Poison (lowest in both) to spawn with 47.2% Rating. Tamed a 80.6% and 80.3% rated 2 slot Frost Mites during then.

Here's the build for the 80.6% one. Saved Planner | uo-cah.com. He has fully maxxed out everything, and yet still has 34 TP left with nothing left to spend it on.
Here's the build i was going for with the 47.2% one. Saved Planner | uo-cah.com. Only difference between him and the 80.6% would've been 7 less SR and 5 less HP, but superior resist spread. I messed him up yesterday though, put RC on him first and it removed the ability to put AP on him . I literally rage logged right after i did that, noticed the "Special Move" list disappeared after putting RC on him, so i just immediately stabled him and logged off for the night. Need to farm Frost Mites again for another 2 slot 85 Cold/50 Poison one now...

Its odd between the revamp coming out and last year they allowed Cus to be done out of order for abilities. Not magic of course. You used to have to go from bottom up for those also.

I stick with the order and never change the way I put things on because I know I could do something like that when in a hurry.

Order of Picking Abilities/Area Effect/Special Moves

Can someone please make a post giving the order of how to pick the abilites, magical abilites, area effect, and special moves. And STICKY it !!

Some pets can only get one thing and a magic so make sure you know how many things you can choose.

Like Hiryu, Nightmares etc.

Woot! Just tamed a 78.3% 2 slot Frost Mite with 85 Cold/50 Poison Resist. Had to farm another 400-500 Frost Mites to get him to spawn.



Here's his final build. Saved Planner | uo-cah.com. Still has 22 TP left after everything, lol. He's going to be nasty.

Edit: Funny. Once i trained his DEX/Stam up to 125, it lists him as an 85.5%.
