Friends of the Library Token - Does it DO Anything?

Just that, does it do anything other than take space? It seems to me you don't need it carry it on you to make library donations, all that matters is that you've done the quest. Am I right?

If I knew someone would have snatched it up as quick as they did, I would have priced it higher. 500gp seems a little low in hindsight.
