Free time doesn't refresh houses...

... even if you just traded it.

I thought I had 3 more days to reactivate my account, I miss counted and that is my mistake. However people should be warned that accounts open for the welcome back to Brit promotion do not count as house refreshing, even newly transferred houses will start to fall, though the account has been active since the promotion started.

You're complaining about your house falling and you're not paying for the game? ...

The RTB wasn't a "free refresh" of your houses. It was a chance for old players to come back and see whats new. If you don't want a house to fall, sell it or keep your account paid for.

Otherwise, no sympathy. :wall:

Did the house sign still show it going through all the normal stages?

Aye it condemned today, is slightly worn. I've reactivated the account so hopefully it will refresh at server up, though I've been told newly active accounts have to wait 7 days to refresh. I may have to trade it off then back again.

It's good it didn't fall. It should refresh at server up. 24 hours after you have reactivated if it still is decaying you can page a GM and explain the situation and they will refresh it.

Careful with doing that. I don't see any problem with people reactivating an account to refresh a house. They are paying $13 or whatever for the house that seems fair. Plus some people may have to take a break or cannot afford to and don't want to lose things they have had for a long time.

Not like we don't have enough house room these days lol.

It didn't sound like he was complaining at all sir. Why don't you go pop off to someone IRL, I bet you wouldn't be such a jerk.

No offense but if anyone DID think that their houses would get refreshed with the free play time they deserve to lose their houses.

And excuse me for being annoyed that people can pay for 4 months out of a year and not play the game and keep all the castle/keep/18x18 spots while I pay every month to play the game and am unable to place a keep/castle because of these people.

Considering our town on Cats has had 5 - 18x18 houses fall in the past year alone, the housing crisis you are "complaining" about doesn't seem to exist. I know many others have posted there are a lot of larger house openings on other shards too. You have a right to your opinion, but being a jerk lessens your credibility.

Indeed. I can run around on any facet on Sonoma and find plenty of 18x18 spots.

You assuming that I'm a jerk is just your opinion, and could be taken as you yourself being a jerk, so does that lessen your credibility?

Also, 18x18 are a lot easier to come by then Castles/Keeps I will admit. But its still annoying to be paying every month, and not be able to place a castle/keep because many people just update the account 3-4 times a year.

Not ALL people do this, but a lot do. I don't even know if the OP owns a castle or keep, but on many servers there are houses in prime spots like Luna with NO vendors, and you leave books to contact the owner and 4 months later you still get no reply.

Also, not every plays on Cats. Its worth noting that some servers are busier/more populated than others.

Anyway, my point is, I have no sympathy for people who abuse the 90 day housing system. If you're not playing the game, don't play.

Maybe I misunderstood the OP but it came off as if he was surprised that the RTB event didn't give him a free refresh on his house, and came here to warn others about it.

I pay for 9 accounts, not all of them monthly but most of them. I had every intention of refreshing the account holding the house that is now condemned, I however miss counted the days and it started decaying before I thought it would. I wasn't counting on this promotion to refresh my houses for free, it did however surprise me that an active account could have a house start to decay; hence why I came here to warn folks that may not be aware.

I would rather help out others where I can, than pour salt into wounds even if I don't agree with a person. I can state my difference of opinion however without using words or phrases that are judgmental and insulting, or assuming someone else is doing something wrong.

Then I apologize. But I still disagree with the 4 times a year house refreshing... But, I'll man up and admit I was wrong and a jerk.

My apologies.

Thank you, I appreciate your consideration.

In all honestly, EA would get more money out of me and my wife if we could hold 2 houses per account as long as the accounts are open. I would be willing to keep all our accounts open all the time for that option.

I'd be curious to see how much money this policy brings in for EA. I myself do the rotating accounts thing to keep houses refreshed, but many of them are small plots in our RP villages. If they didn't have the current policy in place, no way would I be paying for those houses, nor those accounts, so they would lose out on the money I pay them.

You might be yearning for a keep or castle, but would you still wish for a change in policy if it means fewer dollars are coming in for UO and there's a danger of the plug being pulled on the game?

I don't wish to fan the flames, but the fact that you can pay for some of your accounts once every three months and keep your houses is, sort of, inappropriate. You should be an active subscriber. I'm all for a thirty day grace period... sometimes things happen. But really, a ninety day grace period robs the game of money it should be getting.

Now, I know that on the other hand, a response will be that if you couldn't take advantage of that 90 day grace period that you wouldn't bother with that extra house, and then UO wouldn't recieve any of that money at all from you.

It's hard to say which is better for UO, but I would say that the housing market, regardless of its situation, would benefit from active subscribers holding houses, not ones that are only paid for four times a year.
