Depends on where you live I guess, in RL in some areas begging on the streets is considered illegal....It's also almost always looked at as a shady profession in some ways.

But it's not a crime in UO. It never has been. UO has clearly defined what is and isn't criminal.

Let's just toss in camping and ninjitsu too right? Camping on government land without the proper permits or permissions in a crime... Ninjas are a shady profession too.

Perhaps name it UO Rogue? Rogue might be a bit more accurate for what you're going for.

Many fantasy stories deal with begging as a part of the "underside" of society. Often the beggar is portrayed as a health person who acts like a blind man to scam donations from passersby... or one who acts as a lame boy who is later seen running away...

I think it fits.

Rogue was discussed as a possibility - but the Detective skills really don't fit there.

We discussed Rogue, but with skills that give the "Detective" title thrown in decided it was better as Crime.

But with begging being neither a crime nor a detective skill, you have created the exact same issue you are claiming to have solved. It directly contravenes the game. Is that not a conundrum?

While I accept that begging is only borderline nefarious I believe the fact that the act of begging causes karma loss warrants its inclusion in this group.
