Former player, question about coming back.. EA Customer Support wasn't any help.

I played UO for about 4 years, then about 4 years ago I stopped playing for various reasons. I'd love to come back, but I have some questions, and the warm, intellgent folk at the EA help site don't seem to have a clue what I'm talking about, lol.

As stated.. it was a 4 year account, but that was 4 years ago. I know if I reactivate it, my characters, my house, my treasure, it's all gone. Does anyone know if the account would still have "vet" status though?

For example.. would I have to start over with a 700 skill point cap, or would it let me go back up to 720 with my new characters on the old account? Same with Str, Dex, and Int caps? It was a 4 year old account.. if I play for another year, will I be eligible for a 5 year vet reward? My main concern is the skill and stat caps.. without those increases, I doubt I'd come back. If it actually does "reactivate" my account.. not just creating a new account with my old username and password.. I'd love to come back. As I said, EA Customer Support was no help, acted like they didn't even know what I was talking about.

You may find the only thing missing is your House and what ever was in it.

I don't know if they do not count absent years or not, but I would guess that you would at the least have 4 year vet rewards.

Unless you deleted your characters, I see no reason to believe they would not be there.

I don't believe they've deleted characters since the first or second year of the game. One of my original accounts was missing all 1997-made toons from back when when I reactivated it around 2002 or so. Haven't lost any characters since.

You're very unlikely to have a house, unless you got bugged somehow. Don't count on it.

You generally won't accrue vet rewards for that period of time during which you were unsubscribed. Sometimes very old accounts are credited with several years of time, but again, don't count on it. If your account was started in 2001, played and paid for for four years, and turned off for four more, bringing you to 2009, it should at the very least have a four year vet status. And in another year, you'd be on year five. You don't start over on the track just because you canceled, but you don't progress, either.

As a side note, you can log in for free for the next couple of days, as a "Return to Britannia" promotion is still going on. You can take stock of your characters and such without paying, then decide whether to sub later. Believe the last day is Thursday or Friday.
