Title sort of states it all.

I'm slowly trying to get back into the game after a significant computer crash and other RL issues prevented any game time for 2-3 months.:loser:

I'm trying to figure out how to sort my house out because I have too much junk:coco: 12 chests labeled "weapon", "armor", and "jewelry" makes it difficult:yell:

I do fine until I get to things like armor, weapons, and jewelry type stuff. Too many properties to sort leave me confused:coco:

Anyone have any suggestions on how to sort this junk to make it easier to find what I need?

For armor seperate it into lrc and non lrc. then break it down into dexxer and mage IE mr, stam, and the goldy stuff you know. For weps. I have a pvp box and a pvm box. within that i have the different skills and UBWS box. For jewels I have mage and dexxer.

I randomly toss them into various chests throughout the houses I own.

I wouldn't recommend it :(

the very basic problem for me is

"gah, can't throw that out, I *might* need it sometime!"

:D

sometimes I toss stuff at vendor pricing on a vendor, no matter how good I think it is, and that clears up the clutter... at least until the next hunting expedition

sort your armor near a forge.. if it's not something that you can use, smelt it, if it's good and might be better, try to enhance it (I always lower my lockdown count that way!)

for what's left, unless you have vendors that you put the stuff on, maybe sort by your characters? taming stuff in one, dexxer stuff in another....?

Most of the armor is stuff I've made so no enhancing possible.

Using armor as an example, I kind of sorted it as: lrc and resists. But then I have so much armor in a chest that I can't see what I've got even after trying to bag them upon some other method within the chest:coco:

Nothing like opening a chest of "lrc" armor and finding fifty legs:loser:

Well in my old keep( no longer own it) I had over 1k pieces of high end jewlery. I had 2 secures for Hci Dci & DI and 4 bags pertaining to each and the 4ths being all mods combined. The I had a secure just for LRC a full secure of FC/FCR Another secure for SDI The the skill secures I had set up one just for taming( mean just taming) Then one for mods over 20 that were a good combo another secure for perfect 15s then again 15s with mods that went in combo with the skill. I also had a secure for magery skill only.

Weapons I sort by sell and keep. My keep secure had 3 weapons of each type that i use. The sell bag is for anything else thats is sellable. Armour I sort a little different. Since I burned about 80 B-kits I have a house just for armor. I have it set up for LRC in one room, a room for resists w/mr2 and a room just for resists. The I usually cut up the junk but i still have a full 2 secures for junk armors with lame mods. And finaly one secure filled with LRC armor for mules and training. This one has LRC with MR and LMC but no resist rolls so its perfect for training or mules with no MR skill.

For armor, I have three sets of chests, 18 total: LRC armor (one chest each for hats, gorgets, tunics, leggings, sleeves, gloves); non-metal non-LRC armor (one chest for each type of piece); and metal non-LRC armor (one chest for each type of piece). The non-LRC armor chests sometimes each have 5 chests inside to sort the pieces by their highest resist. I also have a chest or two for high luck armor and jewelry and one chest for shields, with bags inside for spell channeling and non-spell channeling and with or without the FC penalty.

I have four chests each for macing, swords, fencing, and UBWS weapons (total of 16 chests). Each set of chests includes one each for one-handed weapons, two-handed weapons, slayer weapons, and spell channeling weapons. For bows, there are also four chests--one each for balanced, non-balanced, slayer, and spell channeling. I have a separate chest for neon weapons (100% of one type of damage).

I keep a chest of GM-carpenter crafted musical instruments and one for slayer musical instruments.

For jewelry, I usually have nine separate chests: LRC Rings, LRC Bracelets, High Resist Rings, High Resist Bracelets, FC/FCR Jewelry, Bard and Tamer Skill Jewelry, Mage/Rogue Skill Jewelry, Warrior Skill Jewelry, Miscellaneous Rings, and Miscellaneous Bracelets.

I am found of labling any and all containers as to what is in the box.

Not being a pvp kind of guy. what is the difference between pvp and pvm weapons?

Honestly evaluate your equipment. Is this something I'll really ever use? If the anwser is no, then ask yourself could you see anyone else in game that might have a use for it? If yes, do you think they'd buy it? If yes, get a vendor, if no either smelt or cut it up for resources, or dump them on the ground where newbies play.

I personally have one chest with jewelry in it, all the jewelry I consider high end, or might need sits in one chest. If the chest fills up, I clean it out by the above mentioned criteria.

Same with weapons, I have a chest for all my weapons, 5 bags in the chest. A bag for macing, fencing, swords, archery, and shields.

I have a secondary chest for artifacts, and all high end slayer type weapons.

For armor, I have a chest with 2 bags, luck and lrc. Then I have a 2nd chest for all my runic crafted armor that i keep.

Then one last chest for junk, and misc. And thats how I sort my weapons and armor.

I also have a chest for tmaps, a chest for spellbooks, regs, and insturments.

Then a couple of chests for deco crap, and a chest for resources.

Just gets to be to much junk, so weapons and armor I'm really fuzzy about getting rid of crap that I never use, or never would use.

Also to help clean up the house, I put certain items that would go to certain chars in their bankboxes. Helps with staying a little more organized, seriously what good is taming jewelry doing all my other chars that are mages and warriors. Take stuff like that and keep it in a bag or chest in your chars that would get the best use out of its bank box.

I go through waves ... I'll accumulate boxes of "interesting stuff" then eventually sort it by equipement slot, then when storage gets tight I'll go through and ruthlessly prune (usually finding that my standards have gone up or I've changed by mind about what mods are important).

Ironicly, I still seem to have a lot of trouble designing suits - I tend to be happy with leaving things at "good enough" rather than tweaking them to get my full potential.

I'd like to set up some display cases, but I think I'll wait and see what containers look like in the SA client.

For armour, I have containers for mages, warriors and luck.

Mages is split into LRC (LRC 17+), LRC+MR, LRC+LMC+MR. Only med-able ones unless it's LRC 20.

Warriors split into high resists, resists with MR, resists with LMC, resists with reflect.

Luck split into med-able and non med-able.

Jewels split into LRC, Luck, Mages, Warriors, Tamer, Bard, +15 skills.

Weapons split into slayers, neon, mage weapon, ubws, high-intensity. Non ubws weapons are further split into archers/swords/mace/fencing.

ummm I wrote a program to take UOA output file from containers that automatically sort the items for me and it does searches for me.

The main thing is you have to update the UOA outfiles once while if you move stuff around or add/remove stuff.

I just have different search functions in the program to let me search for what I need. The program will then tell me what container the items returned from the search is in and their properties.

cuts time quite abit

Well for me I suffer from obsessive compulsive disorder as well as I'm in the field of science so I tend to be a bit ... well you know the word A and L... at any rate I have about 12 chests for armor which consist of 3 for LRC stuff with hats in one chest gorgets and sleeves in another, legs and tunics in the third (Each separated further with bags inside the chests) then I have 2 chests for Luck stuff one that is Mage and one for non mage. Finally I have the other 7 chests filled with all the other armor separated into different boxes by legs, arms, hats, shields, and so forth then inside each chest they are further separated into Mage vs non mage..... or medable vs non medable.... If that makes sense. The system seems to work rather well.

As far as weapons go I separate those by type first I will tell you now I have about 30 chests for weapon storage, I have arties, marties, special weapons separate, then I separate the rest into type by archer, fencing, swords, macing, mage, and axes. Those six are then separated further by types such as heavy hitters, spell channeling, UBWS and finally slayers. Inside the slayers I separate further by putting all the "super" slayers into their own bag. I keep the best of the best and those that I recently acquired in the top of the chest and put into bags the rest that I am saving because they might be useful to someone.... Periodically I weed them out pulling out the new best of the best and the mostly good I put in bags and the rest that I feel aren't up to par I take off to Haven and drop them for the young. I do the same thing periodically for the armor.

I pretty much throw anything that isn't greater than 15 LRC and or less than 45 to 50 resist depending on the other mods.

Basically what I am going to do because I have the same problem, well i am just going to make 2 suits for all my chars and then toss/cut up/smelt the rest. At the most after that I will keep one chest of armor and one of Jewelry.

When you get done hunting you put all the stuff in a bag and put it in a chest. When that chest gets full you lock down a new one.

If you get bored you put all the rings in a ring chest. weapons in the weapons chest. ect. One day your house starts to run out of room, you have to look though all the boxes for stuff to smelt. This method works best if you have grandfathered houses so you can fill 5 houses with stuff or you can pay ea for extra house storage.

Someday they will make an expansion where you can unravel your weapons and armor and you will be glad you kept 10 years of junk.

Nothing Beats a good plan!

List out your objectives on paper or spread sheet. Take on only one objective at a time and stick to it. Before long you will be back on track.:D

I have armor in 3 chests: Rare Armor, LRC, and Good Armor. I have a lot of mages, so the LRC armor is further separated by body part in colored backpacks within the chest. Weapons are separated by type with Axes & Bows in one chest, and Swords, Macing, and Fencing in another chest. Within those chests, they're separated by type again, then by Slayer, Artifact, or Crafted. Certain armor & weapons that are for specific chars are bagged and labeled with that char's name. Jewelry is stored in my Vanity (where else?) and separated by type, and talismans are in an elven wash basin.

Just cleared 1500 lockdowns today. You just have to get aggressive with your culling and let go of stuff.

Equipment: basically anything you don't immediately need or can't use, get rid of it. By that I mean it doesn't fit or improve any of your characters. If it's very sellable sell it, if it "might" sell chuck it. Nobody really buys mediocre stuff. Just about any personal equipment you need can be bought, looted, or crafted. Odds are you won't be able to find what you need if you're sitting on a mountain of crap anyway.

Resources: obviously most of these stack, but sifting through your house you'll be surprised how many forgotten piles of regs, leather, etc you'll find. Consolidate them and you'll save quite a number of lockdowns.

Collectables: if you don't have them on display, sell them, throw them out, or give them away. Collections just take up space if they're locked away in a chest.

Other: anything you haven't opened, worn, or otherwise used in 3 months or more, you can probably afford to lose. Of course, if you're the nostalgic type, there'll be the occasional memento you'll want to keep here or there. No reason why you can't do that, but the key is not to overdo it if you want to keep your storage woes under control.

Bankboxes: can hold pretty much all the character needs. If you're in the habit of soulstoning skills around, you might want to keep the shared weapons or other related items near where you keep your soulstones. Otherwise, it's pretty much the case that individual characters don't take up much space in a house.

I have a couple of different types of storage. The first separates armor by either LRC or High Resists, which is basically mage and non mage, and the other is storage for vendor goods, individual character belongings, and general goods that all of my characters use like pots & petals. It's also got enough spare room to also store my smithing and tailoring materials separately. Here are a couple of pictures to show how they are set up:

Armor & Crafting Supplies

Same as above but with bloodwood shelves and metal boxes instead of the blackrock boxes in the first pic.

Vendor & Character Storage (left side of the pic)

These methods keep everything in my house in order. The picnic baskets from the Solen quests also work great as organizers within the individual storage boxes. Their small size makes it easy to have quite a few of them inside a single box with plenty of room so it doesn't get crowded.
