For interest - housing spots

About 6 months ago there was a keep close to my castle on Ice. One day I noticed that the keep had decayed and was gone, The space left was quite large and I spoke to a few friends about it but nobody needed a keep. The space was there for bout a week and then one day it was a CASTLE. Somebody got lucky.

Now many people will know that I run an Idoc character and 4 months ago I found a castle decaying on Marble Island. It went through the decay sequence and when it fell for some unknown reason nobody else was there. Weirdly enough it was empty but a space for a castle remained. Next day there was still a space so I decided to start a new account which I did and placed another castle. So this time I got lucky.


I am not suggesting that castle or even keep spots are freely available but this is just to demonstrate that they do occur. If you are thinking of buying or moving up my advice would be to have a damn good look round first. You might get lucky

Was the same for Heartglen (or whatever its calld i call it nokhmar) tramell where i placed my keep. Now i dont know exactly how long it had been empty but it took me attleast a day to place my keep in the spot. Granted that there was no keep there before mine but just 3 empty unbuilt houselots(2 of em are still there blocking a castle placement). I had been scouting that area basicly since lord blackthorns revenge and finally managed to place the keep. To bad im not that active in uo anymore so i cant enjoy it to the fullest. But no im not going to sell it and people can hate me all they want. The spot belongs to the orcs and if the orcs ever come back they will have a home.

If you look at the map in your other thread it's the clearing south of the N in 'Solen Hive'. Failing that, s'the heart shaped clearing south east of the lich infested ruins.

All the buildings in Felucca are named and claimed with identical signposts, but I've no idea whether they're the original inhabitants. The owner of one of the buildings, Emmaline, does sound familiar though.

The owner of the houses in that spot in Feluca is indeed a long time member of ORC and allso long time Warbozz of the same guild, Rl friend of mine. If im not mistaken he has held attleast one house in that area since like 1999 or something (if not even longer) and now its him and another friend holding all hosues in that spot. The plan was to rais enough money to place a keed on the trammel side when trammel went live. We didnt manage to rais the money for the deed though so the plan failed and orc basicly never officially moved to Tram (exept during the last resurection 2 years ago). I have personally been a member of ORC since 1999 and i at one point held the large tower on the feluca side.

Keep spots are always freely available on europa [definate in Felucca ]......Indeed they are on nearly every shard with the exception of Atlantic and maybe Great Lakes........And yes Castles do... like u say ......pop up from time to time....

and while we on on the subject of housing.....and more so ...castles.....the end dream for most....

there are quite a few people on europa [well all shards to be fair] who have a keep or even a tower/1818 that will go instantly into a castle...yes they may prefer what they have...but more likely that are unaware they can get the bigone for free!! or maybe they are old bugged housing that no one no longer owns that litter the land still.....waiting to be deleted by the devs.

If u own a keep tower/1818 with a lot of room around....all u need do is ask me to take a look icq 267 208 357.....more than happy in tram or felluca!!! ...and ive already helped several people do this!! [or] do it yourself .....just go to the same spot on a few different shards and u will see if anyone else as got a castle down on your spot.....there are only certain spots that castles fit in the land ...so check the quieter shards which are mainly castles and keeps only....

Tbh, castle is a real pain to "live" in. Usually end up with using the bottom center room, and the rest is for show unless you got teleporters going to and from every corner stone of it. The best thing you can use it for it to throw stuff random on the floor and lock it down to be able to see everything....and find it... But again...I would probably place teleporters on all 4 sides of a 7x7 tho....because I'm lazy
Also walking into it is an annoying thing aswell. Have to go through 3 doors etc... =) Was easier earlier when you could mark a rune on the grass inside the walls before you placed the castle, so you could recall directly into it.
Other then that, a 18x18 is the ideal and practical thing to use. Castle is more a dream until you had your first. Then it blows over really.

Most don't seem to be aware that you can use the "i wish to resize my house" option also to test out what you can manage to squeeze in.
The clue to a house tho, is more location rather then size. Whats easy to use compared to your needs etc. I like it extremely easy accessible from anywhere so I don't have to run that far to it....

But without a doubt, castle is soooooo overraided.

I've always wanted a castle. But for whatever reason I insist on keeping most of my gold in my house rather than banks (hey, it's easier to transfer that way!), and always end up losing it due to houses dropping while I'm gone You'd think I'd learn but I never do. Especially since for years I was an IDOCer myself!
