Fishing: Why?

I am a big fan of being able to get what I need myself if need be. I happen to need white pearls so I turned fishing skill up. I am planning to stone this skill, but was wondering if there is a benefit to fishing at all outside of some role playing amusement. The real question I guess is do I stop at 80 where I can get my pearls or do I take it to 100 or even 120? Anything special in any chests? Scrolls? Or is it a few grand in gold that I could get from 10 earth els in a few mins and random loot that I'd unravel anyway.

Someone sell me on why I should sail/fish a lot in hopes of obtaining ________________________________________________

I had originally started fishing to get pearls too, but I found I enjoy doing MIBs. The loot in the chest from MIBs isn't anything to get too excited about, but there are some items that you can only get in the MIB chests, and they are a decent source for refinements (as well as merchant and pirate ships), if you use/make armor refinements.

But fishing in and of itself is boring as hell. Anymore I really only do any actual fishing while traveling between MIBs. It's definitely not for everyone. And if you do it just for the pearls, you'll probably get annoyed rather quickly. The spawn rate on pearls is pretty low.

you about 30K gold doing the MIBs and everything you pull up before the chest are worth 100 cleanup points.
in those chests the rarest item I believe is the yellow polkadot bikini (top).

New items that are fished up before the chest... are the port hole, anchor, and chain.
Makes great deco in a fishing style themed room or house...
And if you do an ancient SOS, the name of the shipwreck will be on the chest and any items you pull up before the chest.

you will want the High Seas expansion, if you don't already have it.

if u get to gm fishing u can fish up the charybdis using a oracle of the sea and some charybdis baits which u can get the materials to create both from ancient sos. charybdis is alot like corgul or scalis but more focused on fighting on a boat in the ocean whereas corgul u fight on an island and people tend to drag scalis to land.

the last update the ancient sos also can have a mossy look which is pretty neat. Beyound charybdis nonsense there are certain rare or legendary fish, crabs and lobsters that u need gm+ fishing to even have a chance to fish up with some even requiring the 120. All rare and legendary can be taxidermied by a carpenter to make a decorative wall mount.
