Fishing poles

What's the point in having a fishing pole with spell channeling when it gets destroyed with 1 encounter with a serpent? Seriously devs.....

It 'only' seems to happen on runic crafted fishing poles. You can read more about it at http://vboards.stratics.com/showthread.php?t=155965 . (Actually there are no more infos about and we all hope that it gets fixed somewhere in the near future.)
Using a 'plain' fishing pole out of frostwood (for the sc) should be safe.
