FISHING - Or "How TT tortures you"

Now that I can use a little more of my very limited TT playing time with something other than digging in my garden, I'm concentrating on fishing each day to get those frustrating last few fish. I've been stuck on 59 for as long as I can remember. What IS the deal? I've seen the charts showing the best place to fish for this or that one, but I'd like your opinions on a few things:

1. Do you really do better sticking with ONE district? Does it make any difference which one?
2. Does it make any difference to catch a new record fish as far as getting closer to a new species? Seems like I've suddenly caught like 5 records and have a hope that means I'm getting closer to the next species... wishful thinking?
3. Does it make any difference that you are using a gold rod?
4. I hate fishing at my estate because the pond is so big. Are there really fish that are ONLY caught there?
5. Is there a recommended number of buckets to catch each day? Do you think TT is keeping a record of the number of fish your toon has caught, and you have to catch a certain number before a new species pops up?

I know people who admit freely they caught their 70 easy. And I know people who spent months powerfishing without catching that last one. Fishing truly is random. There are things you can do to help your situation.

Personally, I believe in a daily "lucky district". When I heard of a fish being caught in a district, I went to that district and fished. That's how I caught all my fish.. well that and waiting on people. I had one friend way back.. every time I had to wait on him I'd fish and catch something HE needed. lol kept him from making me wait very often!

I bought the rods as I could buy them with the big kitty. I haven't fished lately on the others, but I can tell you I'm having better luck (meaning catching the fish in less fishing time) on McBoo who still hasn't bought her gold rod. So I'm all about the "don't buy that last rod til you catch 69 fish" theory.. with exception maybe if all you needed was big fish (grand piano, grizzly).

Ha! Good luck! I am surprised you are stuck on 59 fish though. The first 64 are pretty easy to get. It's the last 6 that can be a pain. I have bought my rods as soon as I could get them. I need 2 more fish on Sadie, and 4 more on Sushi, Feline, and Atta D'Bleu.

I stick with one district and same pier. I follow that guide on what pg to get fish at. I am well over 100k fishing for the Grand.

How can you tell how many thousand fish you have caught? I'd like to see which "records" I have caught. I caught the Devil Ray pretty early and the Holy Mackrel too, but I have seen others having a hard time with those. I guess it really is random, though I still have a hard time believing it.

You can tell by counting. LOL Many do this. I never did. I counted hours instead, for my own insanity.

I count buckets. I tried hours but my hourly rate varies depending on how determined I am. Counting buckets are more accurate for me as I tend to yap a lot while standing there and dont get as many per hour as I should. I do think that to be successful you need to do it at least 2 hours non stop at a stretch. The day I caught 3 ultras I fished like crazy getting top top toon for fishing and jbs earned. I believe I earned 14k beans and caught 2500 fish that day. I got my 3 ultras though. LOL!

I prefer to stay at the same district and dock when i fish. I count by hours because i always lose track even though i have pen and paper. I have been looking for the concord for about a year now, but i didnt have problems untill 64 like said above.

Soup when I count buckets I put it over my toon head. LOL! When I turn in a bucket I just put the ..3 or ..5 or whatever number I'm on. The double dots keep it in a bubble and I don't have to write it down til I'm finished that fishing session. I must look like a total dork with a number over my head but I don't care! :coco::loser:

But what purpose is there in keeping count? Right now, I'm sticking with Minnie's because I'm looking for the 2nd & 3rd tunas. Occasionally I switch to the Brrgh because I'm looking for that last jelly fish. I'm doing 10 buckets at each of them each a day. Do most people do more than that?

And is the last star fish really only at the Estate? I hate to fish there!

And I'm still getting a few "records" each week, but do you have to catch the record of one species of star fish before you catch a new species of fish?

I keep count to see how much I have fished for a particular fish for myself. There is an average to fish for per ultra so I feel better if knowing I'm nearing it. LOL! When I fish I try for 35-40 buckets and hour. It is also better to fish for at least an hour at a time.

As far as starfish I have never heard of one that can only be caught at your estate. There is no fish that is only found at your estate. The Holy Mackeral, I believe, is easiest caught at your estate but can be found elsewhere. When I've needed the Holy Mackeral I just waited til Bingo Wednesday so I wouldn't have to run back and forth from my estate selling my fish.

I have never heard of needing to catch a record Starfish before you will get new species. It does seem that if you start getting records and boots that a new species is forthcoming. At least that's the way it has worked for me. It also seems that if I recatch an ultra that I am going to get a new species pretty quickly. The other day I caught the Allstar fish yet again and within the same bucket I got the Devil Ray. I have had that happen a lot recatching an ultra then getting a new one too.

Thanks Sadie, that makes me feel better! I've been catching a lot of "records" in the past few days, and my share of boots (playing Bingo a little this morning was a breeze!), so maybe I'm going to finally get to break that 60 barrier I've been up against. I generally can only manage to play about an hour to hour and a half a day, at the most, unless its a rainy weekend and the kids are gone somewhere, and if a friend asks, I'm generally more than willing to abandon that pole! I wish TT would show us a list of the record fish we caught too.

I got that "All Star" is most common at the estate off the Stratics fish guide list, but I seem to catch a fair share of star fish at Minnie's too, so maybe I will get lucky.

My big kitty caught a LOT of All Stars. A LOT. Like half a dozen. Most of which were in MML and none of which were at an estate.

I've never caught an Allstar at my estate. As with Trish, I have caught it over and over. I get those and the Holy Mackeral all the time. I have caught the Devil Ray twice on one toon.

I caught two all-stars on walrus way and one in DDL. I have foung the makeral sooooooo many times and the rays all in DDL. The hardest are the 69th and 70th fish, for me it was the grizzly and still that friggin concord.

I dont think it matters which fish turn out to be your 69 and 70th they will be a problem lol. Tho sometimes people do get lucky, I remember my friend Roxy fished for over a year for the grizz but after she got that her 70th the baby grand she got in 2 buckets. Her advice...relax and let the fish come to you. Lots of people have theories on how to catch fish, I agree with Trish that its totally random.

So, you really don't think it matters which district or which fishing hole you are in? I'm getting really tired of MML, but I've been hesitant to switch because I've been working that one because I need 2 of the tunas, and that's the only one on my list that has MML as the place to go for both.

Since you're replying to her saying "I agree with Trish that it's totally random", I'll respond. It is't random in some regards. You're only going to find those rare Tunas in MML. And I do believe in a "lucky district", the problem is finding it.

Glad I read that, Trish, because I was about to go ahead and start trying other PGs for those tuna.

As Trish said, you can only find some fish in certain playgrounds. Once you catch that fish you can then catch it in any playground. I have caught the bulldog fish and Old King Crab both in DDL but that was after I caught them in their respectful pgs. Of course, who cares where you catch it at the second time! LOL! I believe the only fish you will never catch anywhere but their own pg is the frozen fish which always is caught in the brrgh.

I am heading out to do my hour of fishing on Alto in Funnyfield. I really hope I get my fish today!

Oops I didnt mean random in that you can find rares in the wrong places. Sowwy. I spose there could be something to the lucky district thing, not that I've ever found one. I do think that getting a fish is random, being no rhyme or reason to if and/or when you finally get it.

hi everyone =)
OMG ALISA CAUGHT HER HOLEY MACKEREL YESTERDAY USING HARDWOOD POLE AT HER ESTATE I'VE BEEN PLAYING FOR ABOUT 9 WEEKS BUT ONLY STARTING FISHING A FEW WEEKS AGO. I DISCOVERED THE FUN OF FISHING DURING A GAME OF FISH BINGO WITH MY FIANCE WEIRD COCONUT. PRETTY AWESOME HUH I'M AT 52 OUT OF 70 BUT I THINK I GOTTA WAIT FOR MY BIGGER ROD. I FISH EVERYWHERE PLAYGROUNDS USUALLY BUT RECENTLY STREETS.

Rosie caught her "Grand" today! I sat at the same dock yesterday and caught 3,316 fish before calling it quits for the night! Although she did make it on the Top Toon list! Went back this morning and was on the 7th bucket when it hit! I high tailed it out of MML and didn't look back, he-he! Hope the last 5 aren't as much work...please tell me I won't be on the top toon list again for fishing! One last thought, they need to clean that pond, sure are alot of old boots!!!!

WTG Rosie! I hate to break it to you but I have been Top Toon for fishing 5 times. Also got most jellybeans earned those 5 times too. Still got one fish to go. Good luck on the rest!
