Finally tamed a greater dragon.

But WTF? I carefully chose a bigger one, just to find out she lost half of her stats after I tamed her.

Are you a new tamer? From what I understand all agresive pets lose about have of their stats and a lot of their skills after taming. But these super dragons are still about 3 times stronger than a normal dragon.

I just forgot. Haven't taming a living thing for the past 6 or 7 years. Bought a pretty dog because I am not an elf. That is the only addition for my tamer. Basically I think playing tamers is pretty boring.

I have some rough stats at
http://oev.hilands.com/

Go for the ones with the lowest dexterity. I think 140 dex is the most I saw, and that gets dropped in half.. you can train it up to 125...

Have you fought one? or even met one in the game?

The 'greater dragons' as people are calling them are no harder to survive than pre-AoS dragons used to be. This really isn't something new, it's restoring that which was.

From personal experience I'd rather run into a tamer with a greater dragon in tow than one with a pair of kitsunes, my chances of survival are much higher.

I just don't feel stealth archer tamers needed this buff, they are already far to over powered as it is. This change mainly hurts siege...

They could implement further requirements to higher end pets to get around this.. For example, you can only tame/control a greater dragon if you have no other combat skill (not including magery)

This would mean all the pvm peace/mage/tamers would all be ok to use them but pvp'ers (which is where you would only expect to see such a hybrid template) would not because they have archery. I guess this opens a debate about character classes then though.... food for thought anyways

I remember people pre-aos back in the day telling they solo'd dragons, we called those people liars, theres no way back in the day anybody could solo a dragon and live to tell us he kileld it, even 7times GM with a Vanq or Slayer we could live, watched so many try, as myself, and find ourself wearing that very sexy shroud :p

But yeah, like Jeremy said, new players training on dragons to gain, that was pretty silly, all big creatures need to be buffed up, in the other game I play, and no, its not that wow crap, if I try and take on bigger creatures at low levels, I die in seconds, thats how I liekd it back then

to get back to topic tho, when you find the new dragons, just look at their mods and devide in half, love the fact they hit so hard, theyre fun to tame especially since my tamer is also my tailor, bestest combo :p

The hell with overpower, just a punks excuse for being crappy. Realistically......If you came into my home with a bat and I pulled out a forty-five, would you scream imbalance??....overpowered??......no, it's called doing what you have to do to win w/o cheating.

If I could use 2 dragons and 5 quivers at once I would. You do what it takes, crying isn't one of them, you'll still get beat senseless.

Along with scripters, remove the whiners too....please.

A requirement that tamers be only mage tamers to tame a super dragon wouldn't work ... it's too easy to just soul stone off skills like archery and put them back again. You'd have to include controlling the dragon also.

[/ QUOTE ]Anyone working with one of these super dragons is going to be on foot and the dragons themselves can easily be outrun if you are mounted. If you stop and think about it you would probably be in worse shape if you were in a battle with a tamer/mage using a super dragon; they would just paralyze you.

I don’t understand why some mickey mouse system that keeps you from using one skill if you have another skill (i.e. you can’t use your taming skill if you have a skill like archery, swords or maceing) would be a good idea.

I did solo a dragon, pre-AoS. I jousted it in my invul armour, with a shed load of tr pots and my trusty vanquishing kat. My hands were shaking so badly I could barely hit the keyboard keys. Proudest moment of my uo life.

I think taming this new version is the closest I've come to matching that, since I did that solo too, with peace, not honor.

@DrDolittle 'easily outrun if you are mounted' oh yes! I could outrun the thing on foot by a wide enough margin to mount my ethy. I ran rings round it till I got a successful peace in, only dismounting for the taming attempts.

You must have missed my point about this relating to the typical pvm template (no-one is moaning about greater dragons for pvm right?) and the "gimp" stealth-archer-tamer pvp template. A change as I suggested would curb the use of the greater dragon in pvp on an overpowered template.

They just need to get rid of a few useless skills and replace them with the new gimp killer skill which takes next to nothing to raise but when you have it on a character renders your current template non gimp because it uses up 100-120 skill points but will take out the gimp of the week template pretty easily.

Yeah, Dragons were soloable before AoS, just hard. I wore a full Ind/Invuln Plate Suit once when in Destard to test out the suit, took me a month and a half of killing Orc Brutes to piece it together. With a AR of 95 after Arch Protect, their' melee hits didn't really do much to me, with 90 Resist, neither did their spells. I used a Dragon Slayer Warmace to take it down.

I tame Great Wyrms with Lead Taming, no Beatdown, no Peace, no Honor. Most of the time i do it solo too.
