I just found out it was obligatory to post this here (posted in UHall first, oops
) so.....

After 2 1/2 yrs, I finally hit Legendary Smith yesterday. Woot!

I finally decided, due to the new crafting changes, that it was high time I sat down and finally got my Smith's skill worked higher than the GM level I stopped at when I first created him as my 2nd character. I parked his butt on a stool in front of the anvil and forge with 60k ingots (plus more, MUCH more, added along the way, and I did get ALL of them myself tyvm ) and hammered away. After a week or so, I finally hit 120 early yesterday. I've got to say, even though it's a crafting skill, it's felt like my highest skill related accomplishment so far.

Hey !!!! Watch it!!! Those are dangerous words here. But congratulations and we hope you will find it worthwhile at some point in the future.

Oh, don't get me wrong, he's more than worthwhile, and even more so once the runic changes take place.

Hey, welcome to the club! Now plan on mining and filling bods till January when the runics and bods change. When that happens our craft will again be worth something. Good luck to you!

And now you have the required skill to complain bitterly about the state of smithing today.

Nice going! *checks to see if the hammer dance was done correctly, and grins*

And ignore Jhym.. he's being critical of my current depressed state of smithing mind.

And a big ole NANNER back atcha, J.. cause he was in UO Hall, where the worst of the pessimists reside.

LOL

Thanks all. I've been stocking up on BODS, and buying up every cheap runic I can find. While some know what's coming and have raised prices even on dull copper to 50k or more, there are still a LOT of runics out there for really cheap prices. I picked up 4 shadow runics yesterday for 8k each, which is a steal considering what they'll cost once the changes go into effect.

You sound very optimistic that the changes will result in value for low end runics. I will wait and see but whatever the changes are I am not a smith by trade. It's a hobby for me and I make gold doing other things so I am sure I will be happy with the changes.

With the changes that Wilki posted in UHall, all runics will be going up in value. The lowest intensity that will be possible, on the dull copper runic, will be 50%, and considering that it just goes up from there, any runic will be worth quite a bit.

I just splurged and bought a +60 Ancient Hammer I'd found for 3.5mil to reward my Smith for all his hard work, and found another 4 shadow iron runics for 8k each. I expect they will increase in value by at least 5x once the changes are put in.

Should I tell you that I have picked up 20 DCs from NPC vendors and 8 shadows from vendors and on the floor?

Naah.

Why I have no idea what you're talking about. Lilac is the least cynical person in this forum.

I actually picked up a bunch of DC's from the roof of Brit bank 2 days ago. A returning vet was cleaning out his bank box and dropping them next to me. I stood there and waited until he was done, as I also picked up a matching set of 4 pcs (same crafter name) of double exceptional leather armor that I turned around and sold for 200k. I probably could have gotten more for it, but I was more interested in a quick turnaround on them. Sure was nice to pick up a quarter mil or more of stuff that someone decided was trash.

Check some of them... the original runics had the properties of their ingot type. The newer ones do not.

Just a nice little oddness to keep if you want.

Really? I'll have to check that out. If he had the old armor it's a good possibility on the runics. Thanks for the tip.

And thank you Raven.
