Few questions from a soon to be returning player.

So I haven't actively played UO since shortly before Mondain's Legacy came out. I'm going to start playing again here in the next week or two, but I have some questions.

The account I'm thinking of re-activating is a 5 year vet account with only Age of Shadows and 7th Anniversary activated. If I buy Stygian Abyss, will it also give me access to the other previous expansions? Namely, Samurai Empire and Mondain's Legacy. If not, I have an almost 3 year account that has everything up to, and including, Mondain's Legacy I can do instead. Also, does the $29.99 version of SA come with 30 free days for inactive accounts too, or does that only work for new accounts?

What server should I play on? I know that's a bit of a loaded question, lol. I've spent my entire UO career (started Feb 2000) on Great Lakes. I want to be on a shard that has a healthy population and some RP. Is Great Lakes still good for that, or should I move to Atlantic or something? The 5yr account is pretty much an empty account, so I'll be starting from scratch no matter where I play.

Lastly, I need some help with what character templates to start with. I'm going to start with a crafter to mine with to make some money, but I also want to make a warrior character. What would be a good, cheap, fast build to make money hunting on? Preferably Swordsman or Archery. I like Sampires, but it will be a while before I can afford to actually gear one out. I'll be making a Tamer/T-Hunter as well, but I need something to make money on before I start up T-Hunter skills.

Just before SA was released, UO upgraded everyones accounts thru ML. I would go ahead and purchases SA since it does have some nice templates of the month and you can make decent gold by collecting resources that people would rather purchases than collect themselves.

You will need to purchase the upgrade version. They made sure that we knew that when they released SA. I don't think it comes with free days, but on the Origin store website the upgrade is $20 and the new is $30, so in effect your paying $10 for the free month. You can probably watch the website and catch it on sale.

As far as what shard, you might post that question on the specific shards forum. Atlantic is the most populated, but for some people that isn't their cup of tea. Some shards have pretty active EM events and I know a couple of people that made chars on those shards just to participate.

As far as templates go, with imbuing it is pretty easy to make decent suits that would have been really nice suits a couple of years ago. Sampires are still the solo melee template of choice, it just depends on your preference on what weapon and whether you want a human/elf melee char or gargoyle thrower. Both are fun and each have plus and minus on how you would play them.

I would go over the boards. It seems that the most active RP shard right now is Europa but thats not a North American shard. It really depends and you might want to take a quick look on each shard to see what is going on RP-wise. You can come check out Chesy I would be happy to give you a tour here. There are quite a few player cities.
