Well, Just back from a long break. Logged into my characters to see where they all were and to see about placing a house when I noticed that 4 of my soulstones were missing! 2 hours later, searching backpacks and bank boxes, still no joy.

An hour later, after listing all my char skills, it seems that my 120 provoke, 120 mace and fencing skills were gone! I think that the fourth stone must have been empty.

I must admit that the initial excitement of logging back on was tempered by the thought of retraining provoke from scratch. (at least is wasnt cart or lockpicking).

I have read the faq's and posts and have a fair idea of where to go but the thought fills me with dread.

Has to be done though as I am a Bard at heart.

Any tips appreciated.

actually you can GM cart and lockpicking in under one day.

provoking to 120 will take you at least a week.

I can agree the trining time for provoke! Thats 2 hours to get from 35 to 48. Have you any advice for getting from 48 to say 70?

48 to 65 polar bears
65 to (not sure off the top of my head as i dont do it) giant beetles

personally i hit 65 then i put on a ring and watch and get myself up to 80 and start working on cu's

OK Got to 60 provoke and 70 discord. Can someone please recommend creatures (preferrably non agressive) at either of these skill leves? Polar bears is soo slow. I have also tried pixies in Ish (near swoop) but thats v slow too.

Find your skill level equivalent, and bard away. Friending yourself to the solen and discording the warriors seems the thing to do for you right now.

Actually, I'll assume you have 120 music too, which makes it harder to gain.

Browse to the calculator on that page, and work out what gives you around 50% success with your skills/instrument.

Thanks for the help. I am quite enjoying trying provoke and discord on all the creatures I run into in my explorations. The new creatures seem rather difficult as I seem to die regularly.

Its also a revelation to play without peace. Its quite supprising how much of a crutch ths skill is.

BTW, A great place to train provoke / discord at around 60 skill is the slimes at the entrance of the abyss. They do not come up the little slope so you can train in relative safety.

Also, the crystal ball which tells you the difficulty level for training is really useful.
