Feeding Blackrock Stew to Bane Dragons

Other than to have the Dragon bond, is there any real advantage to feed Blackrock Stew to a Bane Dragon ?

I have heard some say that if a Bane Dragon is fed regularly with Blackrock Stew, it will be a better fighter and even use some special attacks.

Anyone knows more about this ?

If indeed a Bane Dragon gets advantages from being regularly fed with Blackrock Stew, for how long does the effect last ?

Thanks.

Here is what I know. You do not need Blackrock stew to bond a bane dragon- you can do it with Tasty Treats.

If you do not feed Blackrock stew to your bane dragon it will give off some peckish message.

People have theorized not feeding it the stew may somehow make its breath weaker. But nobody so far has proven anything or come up with something more concrete.

I have never fed my Bane dragon(s) Blackrock Stew (BRS). I bonded them with Tasty Treats, just as JD said.

My Bane does a breath attack (poison damage i believe) for about 130 damage in PVE.

I've heard that when a Bane is fed BRS then their breath attack will poison the recieving target in addition to the breath damage (that's the way it works for Banes in the wild).

Some have speculated that when the Bane is fed the stew his poison breath can/will inflict deadly (lvl 5?) poison on the target, and as the BRS "fades" the poison will decrese in level (lvl 4, then lvl 3, etc.) until the BRS completely wares off.

Note to self: still need to test this for myself, once i get some stew.

The last bane dragon I tried to bond with tasty treats did not work. I'm also 120 taming/lore. Don't know why, could be a bug, they could have fixed it and not told us or it could have been any other reason.

You need the blackrock stew to recharge the poison for your bane. I don't have a definite answer on how long it lasts, but you will know when it runs out. Your bane will still do his special move (a spit attack) but it will not do deadly poison with it. You do not need to feed it regularly, only when it needs the poison recharged, if you want it to cast deadly poison.

I was told that Blackrock Stew does not stack with each other, is that correct ?

If so, and one needs to carry along several Stews to keep the Bane Dragon Fed through the entire hunt, it is annoying also given the large size item they are.

If they are not already stackable, I would hope that they made them stackable soon for all the players who enjoy using their Bane Dragons for hunts.

You mean, if the character that is their Master is fully fed, and as long as it stays fully fed, there is no need to give again blackrock stew to the pet bane Dragon ?

Master and pet are tied in their feeding needs ?

Odd, had no idea of this.......

I think what Storm is saying is that after feeding the Bane Dragon, it will stay "fed" (and therefore will poison his targets with his breath attack) about as long as your char would stay "fed" after you feed him until "your simply too full to eat anymore".

I tested this out last night a little bit actually, a friend returned to the game recently and he wanted to see a bane dragon, I had it attack him and I got the peckish message. The bane was weak, never even did a poison spit attack. I fed it a stew and the thing started spitting lethal poison (level 5) and just seemed a whole lot stronger all around. I bonded mine back when they first came out, and I used the stew, not sure if that makes a difference. Then another friend took his bane out and we had them attack each other. My bane, which was fed the stew, was noticeably stronger then his. Aside from casting more spells (fluke perhaps) it did more and stronger poison attacks. So I would say the stew is definitely worthwhile for the pet, especially if you want to use it for pvp. I still like my dread mare better, but the bane is growing me. I will try it out again today to see how it works, but from what I saw last night, you will be disappointed in bane dragons without blackrock stews.

Ok, ill re-iterate what i think was said above.

Feeding a Bane a tasty treat will alow it to bond and perform at max ability for the duration of the treat.

Feeding a Bane the BRS will allow it to bond and perform at max ability for around a day.

Max ability is, Firebreath at max damage and poisoning targets based on distance (closer the target higher the lvl poison).

If you have enough TT to keep a bane fed (bear in mind the 2 min timer) then go that way.

Hey guys, not to :bdh:, but here’s a summary of the Bane Dragon's feeding babbits that have either been confirmed, or speculated and have not yet been disproven afaik.

Bane Dragon’s will consume only 2 kinds of food; Blackrock Stew (BRS), and/or Tasty Treats (TT).

• Bane's can be bonded with either BRS or TT (unless you’re Lexx Merlin :))

• The Bane will shoot a Poison Breath attack regardless of being fed at all (mine does, and hasn't been fed in at least a few weeks)
o The Bane's Poison Breath attack can/will inflict Deadly Poison if the Bane has been fed Blackrock Stew and is still under the “fed” status
o The poison inflicted is potentially affected by the distance the Bane is from its target (closer to the target = higher level of poison inflicted, up to lvl 5)
• The Bane's "fed" status may last roughly as long as a player's "fed" status after eating until “you are simply to full to eat anymore”
o “Fed” status potentially lasts for 6 hours – 1 day
• Feeding the Bane a TT will restore its loyalty to %100, but will not cause their Poison Breath attack to poison the target at all
o The Tasty Treat will also buff the Bane’s stats by 5% for 20 minutes (TTs do this for any pet that consumes it)

Edit:
•When you feed the Bane, the timer on the "fed" status appears to only count down while you are logged into the game
o so if you feed the Bane, and then log out after 2 hours, the "fed" timer will pause. when you log back in 3 days later you will still be under the effect until the remainder of the timer runs out

Thanks everyone for your contributions to this detail list

Exactly How I think it works ! one other thing though If you feed it brs it counts the time you are in game ...so if you log out after 2 hours when you log back in 3 days later you will still be under the effect till time runs out in game! at least this is how I have seen it working!

Thanks for that summation, Trunkz.

Could anyone post the recipe and specifics to make blackrock stew to complete this thread?

I believe the min cooking is 30 and you need a small piece of blackrock (the kind you get when mining) and rotworm stew!
and of course the recipe that you get from the ophidians in t2a after completing the loyalty of 2k and then they have a quest you do!
that asks for the arm of a avenger a bowl of rotworm stew and a piece of black rock !

Just did the quest and at 30 you will fail big time, even at 100 cooking with a +26 cooking tali I got 95% success rate , oh and you need 5k loyalty points for quest.

Look at it logically.
Cooking bonus improves your chance to make the desired item, provided your skill is high enough to attempt it.
Exceptional bonus improves your chance to make the desired item with exceptional quality where the item has the option to carry the maker's name.

I fed some blackrock stew to my cu today. He ate it .. and I got a message that by bane dragon was recharged (heh)... but it didn't give my doggie poison breath. :)

Too funny! :D
Has anyone tried this on other pets though? Like Rune Beetle?

Sup yall, after feeding my Bane Dragon some Black Rock stew:

I can confirm that the Bane will poison with its breath (wow no surprise), but it does not seem to effect anything else such as spell casting capability or frequency of the breath etc.

One other interesting this I’ve noticed is that the damage of the Bane's poison breath attack (fed or unfed) appears to be heavily influenced by distance to the target. The further away the Bane is when he fires off the breath the more direct damage it will do; up to a maximum of 200 on a 0 poison resist target.

I often see my Bane shoot his breath for 100+ damage (saw 180 last night on very low poison resist mob) when I’m dragging him away from a fight and he turns to shoot. But when he is toe-to-toe with something I’ve never seen an attack hit for anything over 87 or so, let alone 100+.

This poses an interesting balance of dynamic strengths for the poison breath.
1) The Bane’s breath will inflict higher level poison the closer it is to the target (if fed of course).
2) The Bane’s poison breath with do more direct damage (almost 2x as much it seems) the further the Bane is from his target.

My opinion: I fed my Bane some stew the other night, and honestly wasn't all that impressed. Maybe my sample set was too small (1 feeding :)), but I personally don't see a point in feeding these things 75k stews every 6 hours unless you’re PVPing; because the poison would be KEY for interrupting heals during a burst combo or whatever.

Edit: Overall I'm loving my Bane Dragon. Mine is now almost 7x GM (resist spells at 99 and Magery at 83 ugh). Even if you never feed the Bane BRS, he is still a great fighter and absolutly worth using to hunt with some EVs on the side when neccessary. I barely see anyone on my server (Chessy) riding/using one, so I hope people are giving these guys a fair chance. :)
