Family Duty

D'Amavir

Visitor
Stratics Veteran
Octavio D’Amavir rode through the small farming areas of Yew, humming an old tavern tune. He wanted to see for himself the impacts his brother, and the band of miscreants that followed him, had had on these people since their most recent return.

While he would not call their demeanor happy, he did find them out and about living their lives, meager though those lives may be- not hiding away in fear. But the unwilling politician knew from personal experience that sometimes fear was not enough to keep one from their sense of duty, so perhaps there was a deeper impact he need look for while here.

The thought of duty took his mind back to the Gentle Rest- and it's once and future proprietor, Aedon Durreah. Octavio sensed a certain honor about the man, both in regard to the city of Yew itself and in his own sense of duty. But there was something more- the former bard wasn't certain if it was determination or fanaticism. Octavio got the feeling that Durreah would rather watch Yew burn around him than cede any ground to those he deemed his enemies. A good trait for a specific type of ruler, he just wasn't certain if it was the type of ruler he himself could support.

Riding on he decided to focus more of his attention on finding just what type of man he was dealing with- and what, if anything, Octavio should do about him. The merry tune faded away to be replaced by one with a darker, almost melancholy tone.
