Just had two of my friends houses drop. There was no idoc stage at all. Completely fine to vanished. Dont know if @Mesanna @Bleak or @Kyronix changed the housing code at all recently. My guess is that @Mesanna @Bleak or @Kyronix Changed some housing code to get rid of some old accounts that werent payed up, old seer accounts, or just grandfathered houses... and forgot to put in the decay cycle code or just assumed it would do so on it own.

The accounts probably were not paid for, granted, though they usually go through a decay cycle before dropping. I had checked these two houses, as i do all my friends just 2 days ago and they were not in decay. I am very anal retentive about checking me and my friends houses. I try to check all houses every 2 to 3 days to make sure this sort of thing doesnt happen.

If any of you guys out there are playing the 3 month house juggle game... beware your house may not actually go into decay, it may just poof. Ill let you guys know if i notice anymore houses do the same. this may be why @brianfreud2 's house just went poof with out a decay cycle...

ouch! mesanna posted that brian's house was 92 days of nonpayment before it poofed. the scary part is that the houses aren't going through the decay cycle. idoc'ers are also missing out too.

Almost sounds like a timer snafu... Rather than going into "like new" when the timer kicks in, it jumps to the very end and drops the house.

I keep all of my accounts active and don't care one way or the other about the 90 day house juggle but for the love of the Virtues I wish they hadn't started messing with house decay. I used to like idoc's but haven't done any since the changes and now people seem to be losing houses without warning.

Sorry for their losses but 2 houses today and 1 house 19 Aug says something else is going on and we do not have all the information to make an informed reply. If this were as bad as the sky is falling then I think we would be seeing a lot more screaming here than what we are.

Currently to me it seems like an issue with playing the 3 month without paying game problem. Which is cool with me. But if that's the deal they need to tell people. Probably a bug that is now a feature.

@Lord Frodo when do we ever have enough information to make an informed reply? :) This post is mainly just a warning to those playing the 3 month juggle of houses. It may be in their best interest to just close those accounts permanently or keep them open.

@Lord Taliesin i completely agree.

@Capt. Lucky UO does something, doesnt notice the bug, players notice a bug, UO now has a new feature... classic. :)

Hi everyone,

We have not touched the housing code in a long time. What we would need is the players email me with the account names so I can do a little research to see if there is there is something causing this. So I am asking the players to email me with the accounts they lost the houses on so we can take a look at each case separately.

@Capt. Lucky @Scribbles IMO the 3 month may just be a signal for the Dark Lady to go look at a house and decide if it goes IDOC or SHE poofs it for reasons that only UO knows and the owners will ALWAYS say I didn't do/have anything wrong/illegal on/in my house. If it is for these reasons I would much rather see them poof than drop and enter the game.

If thats the case i prefer a burning display of the house so all the people looking on are 1.) deterred from doing similar things 2.) know to stay away from said player.
This was typical back in the day. It has happened recently though... i wont mention the name... :)

With that said, I dont believe that is the case with these houses. Also, The players as i knew them where probably not smart enough to figure out how to do such things.

However who knows, the only thing i know is i wouldnt play the 3 month juggle ever again.

@Scribbles LOVED them burning houses. Depends on where those houses are they may take up some nice spots and other players could use those depending on shard/location. Totally agree with the 3 month lotto, stupid, I used this once so I could place a Castle to sort out my other houses and when I was done I gave it to another player, took me about 2 months to sort and UO got 1 month sub on an account that only sees the light of day on RTB so I made out, sorting houses, another player made out, free Castle, and UO got $13 to boot.

Well Mesanna has said she is the only one authorized to drop houses. She doesn't appear to be aware of them (see her above post). So we should assume it's something other than them being dropped intentionally. So anyone with any info PLEASE send it to her!

The only merit this thread may have is that the cycle isn't showing on the sign when the account is inactive and reached the idle limit.

Or that it did show and was missed in the 2 days it wasn't visited. What is the least amount of time that a full cycle of decay is needed? In the other thread it was later learned that the account was 92 days unpaid and the house did go through a full decay cycle but as the house was not visited every day it went unnoticed.

my math indicates the house fell 3 days too soon. 90 days unpaid + 5 days decay stage = 95 days before collapsing.

i have a vendor house on atlantic on a nonpaying account. (shame on me!!! hehe.) the account went inactive on 6/15. so let's see what happens on 9/13 or 9/14.

Housing decay can take as little as 3 day and to un-condemn a house can take up to 24 hours so waiting to do this at what you might think is 92 days is pushing it. I also hope people know that no matter what Gametime code you buy there is no such thing as a monthly fee, there is only 30, 90 and 180 day codes not 1, 3 or 6 month codes.

This^^^^ is 100% correct. It's days and it's not 5 days before a house falls.... it can be 3..... and by 3 it's pretty close to 2... And once you notice it.. probably too late to save it. One just should not play the account roulette game.. either you are playing or you aren't.

Make up your mind and if you aren't playing then I would suggest packing it up and closing it down.

I will warn you - this might not work. I had done my math very similarly while funds were tight.... I'm telling you, if you like that spot, don't risk it.

I no longer play the juggle game. Lost a lot of irreplaceable and personal things (player written books and gifts) to do that again.

It's definitely not 5 days anymore.

My castle I've owned since 2002, fell on Pacific in early August. I've used an Excel spreadsheet to track the days for the last four years. I had a close call once.

I logged on with another account a couple days after it went inactive and the castle was already gone and replaced by another one.

OH, and BTW, someone should remove the Historical Marker in front of it as it no longer applies to the castle that is placed there.

@Mesanna @Bleak @Kyronix

Please do away with the 90 day game that people play. It's completely unfair to the people who pay their accounts regularly.
UO CAN"T DO THIS, they do not control the purse strings and no way EA would agree to this because they would lose money. How do you see this as unfair because the only thing that is different is only paid accounts age. It does not give them any advantage, in fact it is a disadvantage as the account does not age for those 90 unpaid days.

My vote: it should remain as is. I take long breaks from UO but keep most accounts active. I have a couple of house holding accounts that might only be activated 4 or 5 times per year or on a whim for various reasons. Better for UO to get that money rather than none at all.

But we digress.

As for my Atlantic vendor house....today was day 90 on the unpaid account. The house did indeed begin to decay sometime between 6pm-9pm. When I checked it at 9:15pm it was 'slightly worn'. I reactivated the account and it went back to non-decay status in just over an hour. This was my experience but that's not to say there isn't a bug with the decay timer. There have been way too many issues reported recently.

Aside, date/time programming can be tricky.
