Factions and Mace and Shield

Hey everyone,

I have recently begun building my first sampire. All of the information here so far has been invaluable, but I have a few questions remaining regarding some of the items.

#1 The mace and shield goggles - Do all of you that own this items just dump the 14M required to buy them? Turning in enough items seems miserable and I never see anyone selling them any cheaper.

#2 Faction items - What is the best way to raise my faction rating if I chose to acquire items through factions? Are they still active? Are you just killing alts and friends to get ranking/silver?

#3 The last 15 HCI - I have 15 HCI on both my jewelry and I appears a lot of you get the last 15 from the heartwood gear. What other options are there other than the heartwood? I would eventually like to try to make heartwood, but I don't have the funds for it yet.

1. Most of my PVM chars wear non-faction items even if they are in factions. That way I don't have to worry about points or adjusting my suit if I'm unable to wear a piece.


2. Depending on the shard and faction you play it might take just a couple of points to wear rank 9 and 10, while on other shards it can take 500K and higher. You can always go to UO's website and look at the shard faction listing under MYUO (it still works...for now). It will list the 10 players in that faction and the number of points they have, it should give you some idea about how many points you would need to be able to wear the rank 9 and 10 items.

3. You can get +5 HCI from the quiver of infinity, Corgul`s Enchanted Sash, and also from the Conjurer's Garb robe. The robe can be a little pricey. You can also imbue it on your weapon if needed.

#3 15 hci from ring and brace, 10 from conjurer's trinket, 3 from cloak of death.

15 dci ring and brace, 5 tangle, 5 corgul's sash, 3 cloak of death. Could also use quiver of infinity, but i prefer rangers cloak for the 5 ssi in that slot.

Makes 43 hci and dci, works good enough.

Can someone elaborate on how they are getting their Mace and Shield Glasses? Is everyone handing 14M in checks to the warrior guy and just selecting them?

As far as my items go - I have used QoF +5DCL, Spell Focusing Sash +5DCI, and Mana Phasing Orb +5 DCI for the last 15 DCI on my character so currently those slots are unavailable.

Right now I am wearing a Hunter's Headress until I can find a better solution, but the resists on it make my leather suit difficult to build.

Mace and Shield Glasses is not indispensable.
It is necessary to apply HLD to weapon if there is no mace and shield grasses.
When you use used grasses , your stats 15 up.
And weapon's property can be sellected.

Fey leg have dci 20 and hpi 6.

Think its 12M you need to hand in. If you get lucky, someone may sell them for 10-11m . It doesnt get much cheaper .
You could also do the old item turn in method, but its slow and painful. Its easier imho to just farm the 12m with imbuing ingreds or powerscrolls.
Or do tram spawns, peerless or get lucky with an event item.
Sampire is a bit expensive to equip well, you just have to work your way up if you are not a player with tons of gold. Glasses, crimmmie/tangle , conjurer's trinket and 5 ssi cloak can add up to 40-50m alone.
Maybe join a faction guild for a while if you can find decent people.
