Faction Alliances

I thought they fixed it so that you could not ally a faction stone to a non faction stone.. Is this not true?

Two of the biggest faction guilds on Great Lakes are allied to non faction guilds this a big advantage.

Realm in Darkness(TB) is allied to The Dark Realm + others

Unity of Destruction(COM) is allied to Council of mages(non faction guild really gay name to be allowed) + others.

I cannot ally my new faction stone to my other stones why are some people still allowed to be allied?

Can we either fix it or just get rid of the fact that you cant ally faction stones its pathetic that some are allowed and others arent.

I'm pretty sure that if you do manage to pull off setting up or maintaining an alliance that includes both faction and nonfaction guilds, the nonfaction members of the alliance will be subject to the "no beneficial acts" rule while in Fel, meaning no one outside the alliance can rez them, heal them, or give them pets.

It is no longer supposed to be possible but they didn't remove the status from legacy alliances. It wasn't really explained what the intention was, whether this was a temporary fix to stop an exploit of ignoring beneficial acts or was intended to be permanent.

Faction and non-faction guilds should be able to ally.

This is a huge imbalance they dont get hit with spells, fields and are able to heal people who are flagged.

I mean you pepper in a couple of faction people who are in your alliance and field fight faction people its a huge bonus. This needs to be fixed i page daily on people who get around this but it does no help.

and then you can use the nonfaction guild to send invites to other nonfaction guilds by setting it as alliance leader...
I think it's working as intended, because the only thing they fixed when they changed it was the ability to get opposing factions into one alliance:D
Sometimes we give the dev team a hard time because we frankly don't always understand their intentions fully when they make tweaks to a system.

Performing beneficial acts on Faction players is not possible even if you are allied to them.

Come to GL and you will be able to see what the poster is talking about. Non-faction players are able to heal faction players, they can move through each others fields and not hit each other with area effect spells.

Non-faction chars will not be effected by area spells, EV's, or para fields casted by allied faction chars in Fel. All regular alliance rules are in effect with the exception that non-faction chars can not perform any benefical act on a faction char or faction char's pet (no heals, remove curses, blessing, invising, pet heals/rezs ect) if they are in Fel. In any facet other than Fel, then it really doesn't matter because anyone can perform benefical acts on someone in factions (faction tag is removed).

If non-faction chars are healing faction members in fel then something is wrong.

On a side note, why do they allow members of one factions to perform benefical acts on chars in another faction? Really, why would a red SL member want to help a blue TB. Not only are they in different factions but they are on opposite ends of the good/evil spectum.

If they are able to heal each other than they performed the exploit when joining that allows them to do that. You should page a Gamemaster.

Not getting hit by area attacks is what being in an alliance means. It is not related to factions and is not a beneficial act.

uhm, no, no they shouldnt.
yes they should
There's no harm in it, it doesn't give them an advantage over their opponents... it is merely the elimination of a disadvantage (being hit by your own teammates field/area spells) they would be at while facing their opponents.
Instead of complaining about it, just do it.. the system is working as designed. The nonfaction characters still can't heal the faction ones. Alliance rules do not override faction rules.
It seems to me that the earlier fix was not to keep faction guilds and nonfaction guilds from allying, but rather to change the method of how they ally up, so as to disallow guilds from opposed factions being in one alliance. (which, by the way, is/was the only thing they accomplished with their change)
Had the dev team intended for faction and non-faction guilds to not be allied, they would have made a script which booted all faction guilds out of any alliance that had (a) non-faction guild(s).
I don't see any harm in it, and I believe it is working as it was intended to.

erm i play legends where are faction guild is allied with a non faction guild and i can tell you first hand the non faction guild cannot heal me or my pets nor provide any other beni acts the only thing the non faction get outa allaince is being immune to my reds AOE spells and fields

Personaly i think they should remove beniacts alltogether its just assanine not that i cant understand the reason for it but its stupid.

^ Agreed ... and area effects should not have effect upon fellow faction members, regardless of whether allied or not.
