By now most of us have read this post

Oh yeah, and he needed Paul Barnett. You know him as the crazy British dude that appears in random videos at EA to promote his latest bull****tery. We know him as the crazy British dude who we have no idea of how he still has a job. This man was supposed to be the savior of Warhammer’s vision and design. Now all he can do is promote his strange ideas about his little secret project web Ultima game that’s been almost universally criticized by all of us and focus groups. What’s that? You didn”t know Paul loves one of those old Ultima games sooooo much he’s making a literal copy of it for Facebook? Well, the cats outta the bag.
A former designer mentioned something very very similar a couple of months ago. So is Facebook Ultima Online coming soon?

Which Ultima game is it a remake of? It's a single player game, I'm sure.

Games being streamed are the future of MMOs. It goes a long ways towards fixing lag, and will get better in the future as they develop this stuff. It removes a lot of problems with cheating because all you are getting is a movie, can't "read" items (or in particular, where they are if they send it to you in advance of "looking at it"), and the means to check for locations would be very easily detected. It allows for secret things to remain secret until discovered by game play means. It removes "zones" on the player's end. It should help big time against duping. And it allows for massive numbers on screen without lag (at least like we know it).

Little wonder that the real game developers are going into this. Richard Garriott, Raph Koster, Richard Bartle, and many lesser knowns.

The fact that Barnett is doing this shows me that he's a pretty smart guy. And FaceBook games needs this sort of thing anyways. It's also good for UO, you can't get any better advertising than this.
