Fabled Fishing Nets

After the fishing tourney on Napa I decided I would throw out some white nets.

I threw out 10 as fast as I could, and somebody else threw out about the same amount. The net result was only 3 Scalis so I get roughly 1/7 nets will spawn one.

That seems a bit low to me... I think it could be brought up to about 1/3.

And my apologies to EM Tempest, I jumped the gun and ruined the final part of the event... Thank you for putting that healer on the docks tho

20 nets is way to small of a sample to even get a good idea of what the real odds are, especially the way the RNG likes to hang on numbers that happen around the same time period

I had done 5 earlier in the day, and I had got 1 Scalis to spawn.

Do you think if I tried 100 I might get better results?

From a net toss I held on Europa, I would say my average was 1 in 5. And I threw about 50 fabled nets.

I was there for this. It was a great time and perfect timing as it was a fishing event :)

I will say that for the net tosses we have done on Atlantic it tends to be more like Scalis IS 1/3 and sometimes 2/3 times. Our luck runs toward pulling him up!

It is too small of a sample. Ive done 3 nets and gotten 3 enforcers. Doesnt mean the rate is too high though. :)

What I hate is the fact that the spawn is random.

Why do I hate it ?

Because one thing is the Leviathan, another is Scalis.

That is, while it is possible for a player to handle the Leviathan, this is not so for Scalis.

Now, since when one tosses the Net one has no clue whether a Leviathan or Scalis will spawn, it is hard to organize for either one.

And if one brings in a party "just in case" for Scalis, a party would definately be too much for the Leviathan and make the loot a poor thing to share among all.

Hell, sometimes even Scalis' loot is too poor to share it among all of the participants.....

So, I would much prefer separate Nets.

That is, just leave the Fabled Nets for the Leviathan alone and introduce some new Nets, of course rarer to find as the Fabled Nets, which are only for Scalis. That is, they will spawn a Scalis 100% ot times.

This way, players will be able to organize for either one more efficiently.

I’ll share my results in this thread since I documented a White Net Tossing Marathon I did over 2-3 days last month. A total of 107 Nets which resulted in 32 encounters with Osiredon:
1)0
2)0
3)0
4)0
5)Leviathan Hide Bracers
6)0
7)0
8)0
9)0
10)Smiling Moonblade X2
11)0
12)0
13)0
14)0
15)Leviathan Hide Bracers
16)0
17)0
18)0
19)0
20)0
21)0
22)Smiling Moonblade
23)0
24)0
25)0
26)0
27)Wand of Thundering Glory
28)0
29)Small Soulforge + Leviathan Hide Bracers
30)Smiling Moonblade
31)0
32)Leviathan Hide Bracers

The chance to spawn Osiredon based on 107 Fabled Fishing Nets equaled 29% (32 out of 107).

74 Leviathans resulted in 1 Ghost Anchor, 1 Sea Horse Statuette, 1 Alchemist Bauble, 1 Cavorting Club, 1 Ship Model H.M.S Cape. (5 out of 74 = 6.75% drop rate for Leviathan Artifacts) Note: I let one Leviathan go after making a wrong turn and decided to toss another net instead of going back and killing it.

32 Osiredon’s resulted in 4 Leviathan Hide Bracers, 3 Smiling Moonblades, One Small Soulforge, and One Wand of Thundering Glory for a total of 9 drops.

According to Logrus each qualifying attacker has a chance at a drop. This explains why on 2 separate occassions two characters received a drop (Osiredon #10 and #29).

4 Characters made the qualifier on each Osiredon.

Unless there is a Cap to the number of Qualifiers there was a total of 128 Chances for a drop of which resulted in 9 drops for a 7% drop rate ( 9 out of 128).

I have a question. I have just returned to UO after leaving in '07 - I have not upgraded to UO:SA or UO:HS yet. If I toss a fabled net, is it possible I could pull up Osiredon? Or is that limited to HS registered accounts?

The way I understand it is that you can pull up Scalis, but you couldn't equip the rare items he drops.

Not %100 on that.

I believe it's limited to HS. However you do not need HS to fight and even get artifacts from the Scalis.
