Hi Guys,

So I edited this post. I talked to my brother, and neither of us remember where the hell this runebook came from. We had it on this account for so long, but I haven't logged in since 2003 so I just don't know.

In either case, here it is ... let me know if anyone wants to offer on it. It must be very rare regardless.

Runebooks didn't exist in 1996 and it doesn't make any sense why anyone would date a gift several years in the past or later add Luck to it. The only conclusion I can make is that it's a poorly though out player made HTML runebook. GMs won't be able to authenticate something like that.
Can they at least verify that it is HTML in the text? At least we can verify it was player made?

The Luck-250 can't be real... to gain the luck you would have to be able to hold the book in your hand... and I don't think you can hold a runebook in your hand so it serves no purpose.

In addition - If I remember correctly, In January 1996, UO was still in a Pre-Alpha stage and before the first demo of the game at E3 later in 1996. Beta stage started later in 1997. The Timeline I found is:

1996

Spring
  • In April, Origin holds the alpha test for Ultima Online. Thousands of players participate in the largest Internet gaming environment ever seen.
Spring
  • Origin starts taking applications for the Ultima Online beta test, scheduled to be held in 1997. Eventually, over 50,000 people sign up and pay $2 to receive a copy of the beta CD.
1997

Winter
  • In an effort to get Ultima Online out the door, Origin shifts all development personnel away from the Ultima IX project so they can work on Ultima Online.
Spring
  • In April, Origin launches the final version of the Ultima Online web site.
Summer
  • In June, Origin finally ships the CDs for the first phase of the Ultima Online beta test. Only a few thousand CDs are sent out.
  • In July, Origin ships the CDs for the second phase of the Ultima Online beta test. Everyone, including those who participated in the first phase, receives new CDs. The test lasts approximately two months and involves thousands of players.
I don't think it is really worth more than any other runebook - but a collector of HTML Edited items might pay a bit for it.

People do collect HTML items so I wouldn't say it is worthless by any means.
It's not a super crazy pre-severbirth type rare but still, I know a few HTML collectors.
