Exessive Lag Problems

Since the latest patch, there seems to be an increase in the amount of lag that is usually in the game. I was wondering if other people have noticed this also on their shards, I play on Oceania.
I have to consistantly reboot the PC as my char consistanly freezes and can-not move around in luna, and at home in my castle.

Have you done a traceroute to your server? I had some bad lag from germany to siege perilous yesterday. The traceroute told me that no reboot would ever fix the router problems in frankfurt from where they go directly to washington.

I was having the lag issues too and it seems very intermitten one minute I was fine then the next I can't move.

I don't think this is caused by the patch, otherwise it would be affecting more than one shard.

I did a trace and poll from UK to Oceania and found excessive ping times and packet loss from a router in Sydney. I only know how to do this using uotrace, perhaps someone can advise how to do it in DOS. The address to poll is oceania.owo.com

It may not be a patch issue but the timing is very coincidental I guess. We have also had a lot of rain in some area's of Australia maybe that has affected it........who knows but I hope it is fixed soon as it is almost impossible to play.

Iv been having the same lag issue, havnt been playing because of it.
One moment I will be running just fine, then the next I am inching across the screen.

Tuesday evening everything was fine, I was pinging about 100 ms to Lake Austin - my home shard. Since then, though, my ping has nearly doubled - to about 195 ms. I haven't tried UOTrace yet, but a quick check this morning showed that my ping to other east coast servers (I live in Colorado) was about 95 ms, which is what I've come to expect as normal from my ISP.

Have you tried restarting your internet router? Might help get a better ping, 100ms is pretty poor even for normal times.

I actually think uotrace is one of the best free tools out - i've used it many times to trace issues both professionally and personally (issues completely unrelated to UO).

UO Trace can be in it's own Dir. But in there has to be the Server Cfg file Put these Servers in:

This most likely has nothing to do with the devs. Send your complaints to your ISP. If you can prove the problem exists with somebody else equipment you would be amazed at what making a phone call can do.

I once had an issue with a routing that caused horrible lag on Napa. I figured out who owned the troubled router, talked to somebody at operations where it was located, and had it fixed in 15 mins of placing the call.

I'm a computer network specialist and I can definitely tell you this aint a "freak" incident. If more than one person is telling you of lag issues and from different parts of teh country and happening at the same time, Trace-route won't tell you a dang thing. All this new stuff, snow, High Seas, people playing again, and the mother of them all; new coding for all the neat lil doo=dads we have in the game now. I wouldn't doubt if UO's servers are functioning at the limit being that this wasn't ever thought to be happening because last year, hardly anyone was playing UO. Bandwidth has went to crap. There's so many things it's hard to probably list them all. Hang in there UO fans. I'm sure this issue is wellll known even tho no one is telling you and I highly doubt EA wants to lose customers(even tho they make more cash off console sports games) because in this economy, even EA will do all it can to keep the money flowing.

had a very stange lag experience today, was doing oaks on my bard, using the turkeys. when oaks finally popped and his queen started summoning pixies, i started to get bad lag. by the time there were about 30-40 pixies, i could only move 1 step every 15-20 seconds. decided to try and leave the area and the lag got better the farther away i went( dissapeared completely about 2 screens away). when i tried to go back the lag came back. ive had that many mobs and more on screen before and never had this problem. it was worse than having 100 players on the screen at an event. The funny thing is even the mobs were lagging( which is probally why i managed to stay alive after attacking the pixies). got into a fight with a para pixie i was making 1 swing every 30 sec or so and she was hittin me with a spell every 10-15 seconds.

As long as i've played uo that has never happened before, always before when when i lagged like that i would be seeing, in the brief period when i wasn't locked up, my corpse and ghost standing there. I've never seen or heard of mobs lagging before, regardless of how bad the lag was.

Ver since the snow patch I have been getting bad lag too. I ping in the 20's but at times I start inching across the screen so slowly it's unplayable. I don't get a ton of time to play either.

I dont think its the game. I have been having trouble on mutli games and web lag. Its as if we are having central hub web lag again. AT&T a few years ago had major hub go out and we got rerouted over odd lines and it made the web a mess and uo play impossible for many. It didnt effect some but for the rest of us ........ unhappy campers. I have had to wait an hour for Oceania to load up just to feed the fish!

A major Comcast hub in the midwest went down a few days ago due to external attack, leaving a bunch of people (me included) without service for a day.

There's weird crap afoot on the internet lately, and I don't think we can chalk it all up to the whole Anonymous/Wikileaks thing. Something else is up.

Ok I play oceiana with a bunch of friends we all live in diffrent parts me on the other side of the planet and i allways lag a bit but this is not my usual lag! my mates are all haveing problems. though not allways at the same time. usually on diffrent subservers experianceing diffrent things. I was running about as good as i ever am while my bud was frozzen solid for about 5 minutes streight, then it hit me hard and he was able to do some things for a coupple min then we all locked up... You get the point I hope, Its not normal It could be the Wikki Hackers possible i guess but i duno seems to coincidental that it happens the day we all dl the new patch.

getting lag Only when I go in front of my neighbor's house, and there is Not that much stuff there(secondary acct house). Also seemed to lag waay more than usual when running thru Luna, w/ a toon that has an empty bank.This is on LS. Started yesterday

Its not getting any better, pretty much unplayable on Oceania, usually 2 pages on guild roster, since snow patch lucky to get 1 or 2 players just logging on to see how bad the lag is. Not too bad for me on Atlantic, so problems seems definately worse on Oceania and shard wide for all players.

Definately a problem with Oce. You don't get a whole shard of people complaining if its their ISP because they all would have different ones.

I died today outside my house from a scorpion, so did my bug (because of the lag). Bug was carrying rubble and stuff from one house to the other for deco.

Bug didn't even have a corpse, didn't turn to bones. Stuff just disappeared. What is up with that?

I found out the other day someone else in guild died, their corpse didn't turn to bones and just disappeared as well.

There has to be a better explanation than its everyone's ISP etc. As mentioned above, other shards are no issue, just Oce.
